A framed 14.75x 15.25 inch display featuring an autograph of George Washington, a square piece of Washington’s coat and a lock of approximately six strands of Washington’s hair. The items are attractively framed with an engraved metal plaque and a 4.5 x 6.5 inch reproduction of a Gilbert Stuart portrait of Washington. Washington’s signature is featured on a partial document which was originally part of a large March 17 1769 indenture between George Washington and Robert Thompson. The location of this signature has been identifi ed on a lifesize color reproduction of the 21” x 17” original document from which the fragment was excised, which is included in this lot. 11: ABRAHAM LINCOLN SIGNED COMMISSION

Abraham Lincoln our 13th president. War-Dated vellum DS as president, one page, 15.75 x 19.5, April 1, 1864. Lincoln appoints John P. Macey a “Second Lieutenant in the tenth regiment of Infantry.” Signed at the conclusion by Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, with one horizontal fold directly under Lincoln’s signature, scattered toning and foxing, a bit lightly affecting Lincoln’s signature, and a few scattered wrinkles, and a crease to lower left corner. The dark blue seal is intact, with a horizontal fold through lower portion. The 10th Regiment participated in more than a dozen fi ghts, including the Battle of Gettysburg. Macy, whose name has been misspelled on this appointment, enlisted as a private in 1858, survived the Civil War and eventually resigned in 1868 as a captain MINIMUM BID: $500.00

12: ANDREW JOHNSON

Autographed during impeachment proceedings for Chinese consulate: President and Vice President. Partly printed 14” x 20” document signed as President. Oblong folio. Washington, D.C. April 25, 1868. Countersigned by William Seward, Secretary of State. large white embossed seal of the United States affi xed to the lower left of the document. President Johnson appoints C.F. Preston to be Interpreter of the Chinese Language at the Consulate of the United States at Canton. Somewhat split in the folds but strengthened on verso with acid free preservation tape,also portrait is affi xed to upper right of document.There are some toning issues in document as well. The Impeachment proceedings were held from March 13, 1868 to May 26, 1868. Out of 54 members of the Senate 35 voted for coviction. Johnson was acquitted by one vote. Anything signed by President Johnson during this period is very scarce and desirable. MINIMUM BID: $200.00

13: ANDREW JOHNSON SIGNATURE AND CDV A nice bold signature of Andrew Johnson our 17th president who took over after the assination of Abraham Lincoln. Johnson was the fi rst president to be drawn up on impeachment charges and as acquitted by the U.S. Senate by one vote.Also included is an original period CDV photo of Johnson. MINIMUM BID: $100.00

14: U.S. GRANT SIGNED NAVAL APPOINTMENT

Great looking naval Appointment for a Willim H. Brice as an lieutenant in the Navy with vignettes on bottom. Brice starts as a mate in 1861 during the civil war and continued until 1874. Appointment is dated March 21,1870 signed by U.S.Grant as president and countersigned by George Robeson the secretary of the navy. Grant’s signature is a couple shades light but still visible. Nice dark signature and uncommon book. William Henry Seward, was the 12th Governor of New York, United States Senator and the United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. On the night of Lincoln’s assassination, he survived an attempt on his own life. As Johnson’s Secretary of State, he engineered the 1867 purchase of Alaska from Russia in an act that was ridiculed at the time as “Seward’s Folly”. His contemporary Carl Schurz described Seward as “one of those spirits who sometimes will go ahead of public opinion instead of tamely following its footprints. MINIMUM BID: $200.00

17: BENJAMIN HARRISON SIGNED CHECK Great signature by this 23rd President of the United States. The Fletcher and Sharpe’s Bank check is fi lled out and signed in June 1883 by Harrison, to “self” signed “Benj. Harrison,” and measures 7 x 2.75. Rare Autograph Document Signed when Cleveland was just 35 years old and in the capacity as Sheriff, signed after long handwritten letter explaining document by Cleveland, “Grover Cleveland / Sheriff of Erie Co.,” one page, 15” x 9”. On Superior Court Of Buffalo document. this document is reference to the list of jurors at a criminal term of the Superior Court of Buffalo on April 6th, 1872. The list does show who showed personally or was not found next to their names. Light soiling. Very good condition. Grover Cleveland served as Sheriff of Erie County from 1871-1873. He earned a reputation for fearlessness and incorruptibility and made sure that in his legal letter. Cleveland personally sprang the trap on two murderers, one convicted of stabbing his mother to death, the other of shooting a man over a card game. MINIMUM BID: $200.00

This is a very rare signed 1883 document from Theodore Roosevelt. The condition does have some issues it has been attched to an album page does have some chipping and small tears on some of the edges. This early Roosevelt signed document as Captain of the New York National Guard for a Charles W. Wilson who just enlisted. have not seen this type of document come to market before. 21: THEODORE ROOSEVELT OVERSIZE SIGNED PHOTO Vintage matte-fi nish 9 x 13 photo (affi xed to a 10.5 x 14 mount) of artist Joseph DeCamps’ 1908 full-length portrait of Roosevelt, signed in the lower border in fountain pen by Roosevelt. Printing along bottom of image reads, “Copyright 1909 by Joseph DeCamp.” Photo also bears DeCamp’s signature and a date of 1908, inherent to the original work and reproduced in the photo. Does have some condition isuues, with slight staining and some small scratches in the photo, signature is a little light, but a great pose from this popular president. MINIMUM BID: $100.00

22: THEODORE ROOSEVELT AUTOGRAPHED LINCOLN MONUMENT-UNVEILING Original ceremony program signed by Roosevelt from the day of the unveiling of this famous seated Lincoln monument. The bronze statue of a seated Lincoln was made by Gutzon Borglum the sculpture who later did Mount Rushmore. the Lincoln statue which is an historical landmark was dedicated by President Theodore Roosevelt on Memorial day in 1911. Borglum’s creation was different than any other Lincoln statue that was made at the time, he made him on a bench where he is accessible to all of the people and not out of touch with every American, it is located next to the Essex County Courthouse in Newark, New Jersey. Size 5’x7” in good condition, nice large signature, some very minor soiling and a few brown marks above and below text on program but does not affect signature or image, comes with original transmittal envelope. Important TLS By President Taft to The Vice Counsel and later president of Cuba, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes y Quesada dated March 18, 1919. In the letter the Taft goes over the history between the US and Cuba from the Spanish American War to 1919 and very distinctly lets the Vice Counsel know that we will be there to make sure Cuba is free and learns self-restraint and self-government. This letter is important for warning to how the US will treat Cuba; and the situation we are still in today. The letter reads in part...” My dear Mr. Quesada, I have your letter of March 11th. Book Signed “For / Christmastide / from / Franklin D. Roosevelt” on the front free-endpaper. “D-Day Prayer / by President Franklin D. Roosevelt / from the White House – June 6, 1944 / here printed for his friends at Christ- / mastide 1944,” 7” x 10”. With original slipcase. On colophon page following the text: “One hundred copies of this book have been printed for / President Franklin D. Roosevelt / at the U.S. Government Printing Offi ce at Washington / December Nineteen hundred and forty-four / This copy is number”– Roosevelt has penned “37.” Half vellum over marbled boards. The inscribee’s name was apparently, and for reasons not known to us, a secret. It has been virtually imperceptibly removed by an expert leaving a superior uninscribed example. The President, a noted book collector himself, gave this book to selected friends and relatives at Christmas. It would be his last Christmas as President; he died less than four months later. Printed on four pages, plus the title page, in Gothic type with initials in red and blue. The June 6, 1944 edition of “The Christian Science Monitor” reported that President Roosevelt wrote this prayer “in his study during the night as the news of the invasion began to reach the White House.” In full, printed in blue ink, “The President’s D-Day Prayer. Last night when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our Allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.” Continuing in black ink. “And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join me in prayer: “Almighty God: our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith. They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. This incredible Truman Portrait is an original Charcoal study that Frank O. Salisbury did of President Truman in 1946. This is the original study used by Salisbury to create an Oil Painting of Truman the same year with identical pose. In the top left of the portrait Salisbury wrote “Study for Portrait of President Truman Washington 1946”. The fi nished oil painting resided in the Truman museum in Indiana until 2009 when President Obama selected it and took on loan to hang in the White House Cabinet room. In May 2009, President Barack Obama added a portrait of President Harry S. Truman by Frank O. Certifi cate of Merit presented to Henri Gaston Busignes “for outstanding fi delity and meritorious conduct in aid of the war effort against the common enemies of the United States and its allies in World War 11.” Accompanied by a photocopied letter sent to Truman in 1948, listing Busignes as one of 130 certifi cate of merit recipients from the Offi ce of Scientifi c Research and Development. Affi xed to an identical size board and in fi ne condition, with a uniform block of overall toning from previous display. Busignes helped develop a system that allowed the US Navy to detect enemy transmissions, such as those from German U-boats, that otherwise were out of range. During WWII, U-boats wreaked havoc against military and merchant vessels. The advancement aided in the Allied war effort at sea. After resigning from the position in 1785 due to failing health, Hancock was reelected governor of Massachusetts in 1787, the position he would hold for the remainder of his life. In 1791, recently elected president George Washington was making a concerted effort to advance the new nation’s agricultural and industrial growth: realizing that not only was it a crop well-suited to the climate, but also that its use in industry could be vast, he encouraged the growth of hemp, imposing duties on its import to promote domestic production. In a letter to Alexander Hamilton four months later, Washington wrote, “would there be propriety ... in suggesting the policy of encouraging the growth of Cotton, and Hemp in such parts of the United States as are adapted to the culture of these articles? The advantages which would result to this Country from the produce of articles, which ought to be manufactured at home is apparent.” Here Hancock signs off on a warrant de¬manding pay for a hemp farmer that same year, a good sign that Washington’s plans for the crop were taking hold. 56: BENJAMIN LINCOLN HELPS HIS SON This is interesting letter from Benjamin Lincoln written July 13, 1790. Lincoln offers help to his son help with his land and gives him advice to make the land more valuable. He also says in part ... “It is quite uncertain yet what will be the fate of my public securities it is therefore great importance to you to bring your place forward fast....”.Benjamin Lincoln was an American army offi cer. He served as a major general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He is notable for being involved in three major surrenders during the war: his participation in the Battles of Saratoga (sustaining a wound shortly afterward) contributed to John Burgoyne’s surrender of a British army, he oversaw the largest American surrender of the war at the 1780 Siege of Charleston, and, as George Washington’s second in command, he formally accepted the British surrender at Yorktown. After the war he was active in politics in his native Massachusetts, He led a militia army (privately funded by Massachusetts merchants) in the suppression of Shays’ Rebellion in 1787, and was a strong supporter of the new United States Constitution. The demand for land, however, did not meet Morris’ expectations, and eventually he was unable to pay his massive debts. Order to the Sheriff of Washington County, North Carolina commanding him to take Henry Clark, Aron Lewis, and William Been into custody to answer to Todd Lewis over a fi nancial matter of 96 pounds owed to Lewis. Signed at the conclusion by Sevier. In very good condi¬tion, with several vertical creases, rough edges, somewhat irregular top left edge, and scattered toning (heaviest along central fold). Even with the colonies at war, Sevier had to contend with more routine endeavors, such as issuing the arrest warrant offered here. Fortunately for Sevier, bigger things were in store for the then-clerk. Rare Menu for a meeting of The Escaped Offi cers’ Club signed by Churchill and ten other members, four months before the Armistice ended World War I – the exclusive club had been formed in London in 1917. Partly Printed Menu Signed “Winston S. Churchill” in dark pencil on the “Menu” side of a 3.5” x 5.25” thick card. [London], “P.A.C., 8 July 1918.” Gilt-edged. One side is imprinted “The Escaped Offi cers’ Club / ‘Freedom – but not forgetfulness,” listing 42 offi cers captured, by country (Germany, Turkey, South Africa). On verso, “Menu” is imprinted on top and a fi ve course dinner menu is penned in manuscript. In addition to Churchill, ten other members of The Escaped Offi cers’ Club listed on the Menu have signed in ink or pencil: Major Fox (twice, once on each side), Captain Gilliland, Captain Keeling, Lieutenants Dale, Harding, Insall, Russell, Williams, Wilson, and Wingfi eld. Seven others have also signed. Of the members listed, 38 escaped from German prisons, three from Turkey (including Keeling), and one from South Africa (“The Right Hon. Winston Churchill”). No observations of fi ts at such time have been made beforehand. / From 10:30 until 12 o’clock in the afternoon, the temperature remained high at 39.9 degrees. The patient felt very sick. He repeated several times that he does not want to die. The professors who are treating Comrade Vatutin, along with Comrade Burdenkos deputy Professor Shamov, think that the operation needs to be performed not on April 1, as I reported to you yesterday, but today, as soon as the fever drops. For this reason, it is impossible to psychologically prepare Comrade Vatutin for a possible leg amputation during the operation. Given his current condition, it is impossible to ask, as is customary, for his permission to amputate, since it will drastically worsen his already bad state of being, which is undesirable before such a serious operation. It was decided to not ask his wife or tell her that a limb may need to be amputated either. / The operation will be tentatively performed today, on March 31 around 2-3 o’clock in the afternoon.” In this letter, the man who Khrushchev refers to as “Comrade Vatutin” was Nikolai Vatutin, a Soviet General for the Southwestern and Ukrainian Fronts. Today, many Western scholars regard Vatutin as one of World War II’s most creative commanders. On February 28, 1944, Vatutin regrouped for a new operation and was heading to Slavuta when he was ambushed by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army far behind the front lines near the village of Mylyatyn in Ostroh Raion. He did not immediately die from his wounds and was taken to a hospital for treatment. This letter was written roughly two weeks before Vatutin would succumb to sepsis, resulting from his injuries

80: U. S. GRANT WAR DATE LETTER ALS signed “U. S. Grant, Lt. Gen.,” one page, lightly-lined, 7.75 x 10, March 3,1865. Letter, marked “Ci- pher” at the top by Grant indicating this was a message to be telegraphed after it was encrypted, to Secretary of War Ed- win Stanton. In full: “I would respectfully recommend John A. Rawlins for the appointment of Brig. Gen. & Chief of Staff under the Bill which has just passed the two Houses of Congress. Will you please do me the favor to endorse this recommendation favorably?” Notation on reverse in an unidentifi ed hand notes “Copied.” The time “3 PM” in pencil at the top edge suggests it was sent at that time. A mild overall shade of toning from previ¬ous display, a few tape remnants on reverse, a couple pencil notations, and a rough left edge, otherwise fi ne condition. On March 2, Robert E. Lee sent Grant a message asking to “iron out differences” between the North and South. The following day, when this letter was transmitted, Lincoln issued instructions on surrender discussions, giving Grant wide-ranging powers on military matters. Unbeknownst to Grant, Lincoln also appointed John Rawlins “major-general by brevet...for faithful and meri¬torious service.” Less than a week later, Lincoln would appoint Rawlins as Grant’s chief of staff. When Grant was elected president in 1868, he appointed Rawlins his secretary of war. The Union used a few forms of coded communication, but this message was likely encrypted using the Union Cipher Disk. Union offi cers were notoriously careless with the disk, often preceding the coded message with the key to interpret it. The Confederates understood the Union coding method and in all likelihood captured Union Cipher Disks during the war. Rare salt print of John Brown taken by Alexander Gardiner with signature and salutation attched to bottom of mat.A fanatical abolitionist, Brown maintained an Underground Railroad station in Ohio. In the mid-1850s, he moved to Kansas, where he led a guerrilla band responsible for the Pottawatomie massacre. Supported by six wealthy patrons, he planned to capture the Federal arsenal at Harper’s Ferry and distribute the weapons to slaves. The violent plot ultimately failed when he was captured by Robert E. Lee and hanged, but his insurrection led the country closer to the Civil War. Ink signature, ‘Yours sincerely, John Brown,’ on an off-white 3.5 x 1 slip, affi xed to the lower. 82: GEORGE PICKETT (PICKETT’S CHARGE) Virginia-born military offi cer (1825–1875) who fought with distinction during the Mexican-American War, resigning his commission to join the Confederate forces shortly after the beginning of the Civil War. Rising to the rank of Confederate brigadier general within a year, a division led by Pickett arrived on the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg. In an attack that would come to be immortalized as ‘Pickett’s Charge,’ more than half of the Confederate forces were wiped out. ALS signed “G. E. Pickett, Capt. 9th Infy, Comg Co. D,” one page, lightly-lined, 7.75 x 9.75, July 4, 1856. Brief letter to Colonel H. K. Craig, Chief of Ordnance of the U. S. Army. In full: “I have the honor to enclose the return of Ordnance & ordnance stores pertaining to Compy ‘D’ 9th Infy. For the 2nd Quarter 1856.” Nicely double matted and framed with a seated portrait of Pickett and a biographical plaque to an overall size of 25.25 x 25. In fi ne condition, with intersecting folds, and some scattered light toning and soiling. Pickett began serving with the 9th U.S. Infantry in Texas and in 1855 was promoted to captain in the regiment. The year of this letter, he was dispatched the Pacifi c Northwest to quell tensions between white settlers and Native Americans. He would command the construction of Fort Bellingham on Bellingham Bay in Washington Territory, where he would learn the Chinook language and become sensitive to the predicament of the local Indians. A Hunkpapa Lakota, he was born in about 1835. His name may have been a result of a fi ght when he was a boy in which his face was splattered like rain with his Cheyenne adversary’s blood. He has often been linked to the death of General George Custer, the United States Cavalry hero, at his defeat at the Battle of Little Bighorn in Montana in 1876. There is much argument about who actually killed Custer. The general’s wife believed that Rain in the Face dealt the death blow and the American poet Longfellow wrote about his deeds in ‘The Revenge of Rain in the Face.’ Original 4.25 x 6.5 half-length cabinet photo of Chief Rain In The Face in a jacket and tie, imprinted in the lower border “Geo. E. Spencer, U.S. Army Photo, 7420 Ellis Ave. Chicago,” and “Sitting Bull’s Log Cabin now on Exhibition at World’s Fair, Chicago, 1893, owned by Sitting Bull Log Cabin Co., Mandan, North Dakota,” printed along the top edge. Signed on the reverse in pencil, “Rain in the Face.” In very good condition, with scattered surface marks and rubbing to image, a litlle area in top center affecting written caption, does not affect photograph, scattered light soiling to borders, and scattered soiling to reverse. Rain in the Face signed this rare cabinet photograph at the 1893 Columbian Exposition (World’s Fair) in Chicago, Illinois. The Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux chief was a participant in one of the cultural villages on exhibition at the fair meant to represent peoples from around the world. The Indian exhibit included ‘Sitting Bull’s Cabin,’ the actual cabin in which the Sioux chief died. A contemporary description of the Exposition said of the scene: “Sitting Bull’s Cabin was fi lled with a number of Indians, including Rain-in-the-Face. War dances were given daily.” Acknowledged as the grandest exhibition of the time, the 1893 World’s Fair was attended by 27 million people, nearly half of the U.S. population. Rain in the Face and his band had surrendered in 1880, after which he lived on the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. He died in 1905 on the reservation after a protracted illness. An extremely rare signed photograph, one of a very few known examples.

A. Cox”. Isaac Charles Parker served as a U. S. District Judge presiding over the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas for twenty-one years. He served in that capacity during the most dangerous time for law enforcement, the western expansion. He is remembered today as the legitimate “Hanging Judge” of the American Old West. In his years on the bench, Parker tried 13,490 cases, of which 344 were capital crimes. Guilty pleas or convictions were handed down in 9,454 cases. Of the 160 (156 men and 4 women) sentenced to death by hanging, 79 were actually hanged. The rest died in jail, appealed, or were pardoned. THE GANGSTER WHO INSPIRED DILLINGER TO BECOME PUBLIC ENEMY #1 106: (WILLIM A. SHAW’S ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT)

SHAW, William A. (1914-1977) Professional Gangster, leader of the White Cap Gang in Indianapolis, Indiana during the early 1930’s. Specialized in drug store and grocery store holdups. Shaw was 19 years old when he met John Dillinger. At that time Dillinger was a bungling small-time crook who failed to have any impact in the criminal world. From the day the two met, Shaw began teaching Dillinger how to make crime pay. Dillinger soon gained confi dence under Shaw’s crime tutoring and this sowed the seeds for Dillinger’s life of professional crime. On the day Shaw and Dillinger met, June 4, 1933 they held their fi rst robbery together that same night. The ORIGINAL DILLINGER GANG consisted of William A. Shaw (Kid), Noble Claycombe (Sammy) and John Dillinger (Dan). William A. Shaw drove the get-a-way cars during the Dillinger bank robberies. Shaw spent all of seventeen months of the last forty-four years of his life in prison and jails. Shaw was in prison when Dillinger walked out of the Biograph Theater in Chicago into a deadly hail of FBI gunfi re. William A. Shaw died Dec. 6, 1977 in the Wabash Hotel, Chicago after a cigarette ignited his bed mattress. His body lay unclaimed for a week in the Chicago morgue. Autograph manuscript signed, Indiana State Prison, April 1960. Thirty eight pages all in the very neat hand of William A. Shaw addressed to Joseph M. Pinkston, Radio Station WIRE, 307 N. Penn Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, In two places on the manuscript is a rubber stamp, “APPROVED April 25, 1960, Warden”. The entire manuscript is the detailed story from beginning to end of Shaw’s relationship with John Dillinger. Cover page (1.25 pages), in Shaw’s hand, lists the original Dillinger Gang and the names they went by. It is addressed to Joseph Pinkston, who later became the proprietor of the John Dillinger Historical Museum at Nashville, Indiana, He writes: “Through the past twenty-six years I have been reluctant to talk or write about my association with the notorious and infamous outlaw John Dillinger. So much has been said about him that it makes my association with him trivial. I was introduced to Dillinger the fi rst part of June 1933. The newspapers lists our fi rst robbery June 4th or the same night I met him”. A second cover page on the imprinted stationery of INDIANA STATE PRISON, Michigan City, Indiana, December 26, 1964 to Joe M. Pinkston, one and a half full pages, neatly written, signed “Bill”. A PS is also signed “Bill”. A friendly letter talking about Pinkston’s book about Dillinger. He goes on to write: “Did you ever get the museum going as you planned? I have changed a bit in my way of thinking as far as the life of Crime is concerned. With just a little help and consideration I am sure I can make ago of it in the future. You are the fi rst to hear me say this but I am sure you will not be the last....I have something in mind that may help others to avoid this kind of life don’t get me wrong, I’m not coming home tomorrow, it is meerly that I am trying to plan for the future if there is one for me. At long last I am tired of butting my head against these iron bars. I hope what I have on my mind can be put across to the offi cials of the Correction Department. If experience means anything then I feel I am well qualifi ed to do the job I have in mind. I will explain it later to you.....” Included in this collection are two original photographs of William A. Shaw being interviewed by the press at The John Dillinger Historical Museum. Also included are two newspaper articles, the fi rst of Ex-Con Shaw outside the Biograph Theater where Dillinger died and three columns of information about his association with Dillinger. Mathew Brady documents are extremely rare, in the last 50 years there have only been a couple signed documents to have come to market. Brady rarely liked to sign and was a very myopic character and usually had someone sign on his behalf. This signed lease agreement between Mathew B. Brady “photographist” and a Mr. James Colles gentleman of the fi rst part is for a property in the Fifteeth ward in the City of New York located on the Seventh westernly corner of Broadway and Tenth street. This deed go into all of the details where Brady was to create one of his fi nest galleries, just before the outbreak of the Civil War and was to go into effect in April of 1860 and run through 7 years until April of 1867. Brady’s photos are considered some of the most important documentation of the civil war and Mathew Brady signed documents in the market are almost nonexistent especially any related to his photograph studio which is virtually unobtainable. Brady is considered the father of photo juornalism mostly from his photography and captured moments from the Civil war period.

This lot consits of two reciepts form Lindbergh one which is signed as a pilot. The fi rst is an aircraft arrival notice dated 9/25/43 from Willow Run Airport, Ypsilanti, Mich. The name typed in is C.A. Lindbergh, and it for a Grumann aircarft owned by the Ford Motor company, who Lindbergh was a consultant during the war for thier B-24 bombers. The reciept measures 3.25” by 8”. The departure record dated 2-1-43 and hand signed CA Lindbergh. This piece measures 2” by slightly under 8 inches. 176: JACKIE COCHRAN PHOTO AND LETTER Jackie Cochran signed this letter and 8x10 photo for a young 4-H Club member asking about her favorite motto/saying or quotation. Her reply was a rather cryptic “I can never have so little that I haven’t had less.” Jacqueline Cochran was was a pioneer American aviator, considered to be one of the most gifted racing pilots of her generation. She was also the fi rst woman to break the Sound Barrier which the photo seems to repersent according to letter her letter in sending the photo,(likely the “jet speed record”). among numerous other aviation records. The photo is on cardstock and has 3 holes along top edge due to having been stored in a 3-ring binder, and there’s some scotch tape residue at right and left margins. Eight words in Sir Francis Bacon’s hand as Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England, docketing a letter to him from the Earl of Suffolk – two years later, Bacon, as Lord High Chancellor, successfully prosecuted Suffolk and his wife for embezzlement, extortion, and fraud. Rare Autograph Endorsement on integral leaf of Manuscript Letter Signed “T Suffolke” as Lord High Treasurer, half page, 7.5” x 10.5” In Olde English “To the Right Ho[nor]able Sr Francis Bacon Knight / Lord Keeper of the great Seale of England.” [London], November 27, 1617. Docketed on verso of integral leaf by Bacon: “touching the cofferer his resignation of his place.” Not fully translated. On watermarked laid paper. Two similar triangular cut at left margin not touching any writing. Fine condition. In part, “My verie good Lord being ... by Sir Arthur Ingram to verifi e my knowledge to your Lo[rdshi]p touching Sir Robert Vernon’s consent to the resigning of his place of Coferer. I cannot do less in satisfaction of his request than to let your Lo[rdshi]p understand that Sir Robert Vernon came unto me about two hours before Sir Arthur Ingram was sworn, and did interest me...” Lord Thomas Howard (1561-1626) commanded the “Golden Lion” in the attack on the Spanish Armada in July1588. In 1603, he was created 1st Earl of Suffolk by King James I. On July 11, 1614, Suffolk became Lord High Treasurer. In 1618 Suffolk was suspended from his offi ce because of irregularities. He was accused of having embezzled a great part of the money received from the Dutch for the cautionary towns, with defrauding the King of £240,000 in jewels, with committing frauds in the alum business, and with extorting money from the King’s subjects. His wife, the Countess of Suffolk, was indicted for extorting money from persons having business at the Treasury. On July 19, 1619, the Earl of Suffolk was removed from his offi ce of Lord High Treasurer. On October 20, 1619, Suffolk and his wife were brought into the Star Chamber. As Lord High Chancellor, Sir Francis Bacon was the prosecutor. After an 11-day hearing, they were fi ned £30,000, commanded to restore all money wrongfully extorted, and sentenced to be imprisoned apart in the Tower of London at the King’s pleasure. They were released after ten days’ imprisonment.

Comes wiith an original glossy publicity photo from 1968 and a facsimile handbill from the February 1968 Sacramento State College concert signed by artist Jim Ford tn very good condition, with intersecting folds passing through his name, light toning, and show-through from past mounting residue on the reverse. According to the consignor, the signature was obtained at the Sacramento concert. Accompanied by a 2000 Experience Hendrix magazine with an article on the aforementioned event and a self-published book discussing the show in detail. Performed at the Men’s Gym at Sacramento State College on February 8, 1968, this Hendrix concert was organized by a group of ambitious college students who—acting as promoters—formed an organization Students for the Appreciation of Pop Music to take advantage of the school’s available arena. After securing the facility, they invited the guitarist to perform... and anxiously awaited to see whether he would actually show up. KING KONG 1933 RKO STUDIOS ORIGINAL STATUE AWARD PRESENTED TO WALTER ELLIOTT FOR SOUND EFFECTS. Walter Elliott came up with many of the effects for this classic, one of his best sound effects for the fi lm was to create Kongs chest beating sound. Elliott created this by taping a mike to his back and actually beating his chest, this became that actual sound used in the fi lm for these scenes, like when Kong was on top of the empire state building. The statue is made of wood and stands almost 8 inches tall , it is 3 inches wide at the base. Walter Elliott would later win an Academy Award for his work in the fi lm “Mad,Mad World” EXTREMELY UNIQUE AND CERTAINLY RARE! Produced in 1933 the fi lm “King Kong” is considered to be one of the most GROUND BREAKING fi lms of all time. And is generally considered to be one of the 50 greatest fi lms ever made. There are few, if any, more impressive Ruth-signed items than a full signature (George H. "Babe" Ruth) All America Board of Baseball Award Certifi cate. Presented is an ideal example, as good as it gets, presented to Hall of Famer Mickey Cochrane by Babe Ruth personally in 1931. Mickey Cochrane hit .349 for Philadelphia that year and was a major factor in that team's 1931 (and 1930 and 1929) championship season. In addition to Ruth's signature, the certifi cate is signed by nine famous sports editors or writers of the day who apparently were members of the All America Board of Baseball. Several are winners of the Spinks Award and are Hall of Famers themselves: W.S. Farnsworth - New York, Warren W. Brown - Chicago, James C. Isaminger¬Philadelphia, Jack Malaney - Boston, "Bud" Shaver - Detroit, Stuart Bell - Cleveland, J. Ellray - St. Louis, Kirk Miller (sic) - Washington, D.C., Harry Keck - Pittsburgh. During the late 1920s, promotional whiz Christy Walsh, who was also Babe Ruth's agent, came up with the idea of creating the All America Board of Baseball. The idea was for the board to formally recognize and honor the greatest players of the game at each position each year. Walsh appointed Babe Ruth as Chairman of the board and each year it took great pride in selecting an All America Baseball Team from the ranks of the Major Leagues. The selection of the All America Baseball Team was made by Ruth and a panel of sportswriters (one sportswriter from each Major League city), with recipients receiving an extremely impressive certifi cate signed by Ruth and the panel of sportswriters. Each player also received a colorful red, white, and blue sweater. Offered here is the All America Baseball Team certifi cate issued to Mickey Cochrane in 1931. The certifi cate, printed in grand calligraphic style, is dated September 6, 1931, and has been signed in black fountain pen signature by "George H. 'Babe' Ruth" and the ten respective sportswriters on the board. Becasue this was cherished it was praobally hung for everybody to see which has coaused some fading to the Ruth signature and some of the sports writers, but it isclearly visable and would rate around a 5 in darkness.The original seal and ribbon remain intact and perfectly affi xed in the lower left (these seals and ribbons are often damaged or missing). The certifi cate measures 13.5 x 16.5 inches and is in Near Mint condition. These certifi cates, because of their extraordinary display value, the fact that they were a prestigious award issued to players, and the fact that they often feature a rare full-name signature of Ruth, have always been extremely popular and valuable to collectors. RARE 1914 TEAM PHOTO (BABE RUTH’S) SAINT MARY 294:HIGH SCHOOL

This incredible photo shows the Saint Mary industrial High school baseball team and is dated on back 1914.the size is 6”x4.75” and in good condition other than some identifi cation on a couple players and the way it was trimmed. Although it is dated in 1914 Ruth is not in this team photo. There are very few surviving photos from this school and team. This photo does not have Ruth in it because it was probably taken after he left the school and was signed the same year to Baltimore. Some of the same players in the only known photo showing Ruth and Saint Mary’s team do look to be in this photo. Anything related to this school and baseball from these years is incredibly scarce and almost unobtainable... The story of Ruth going to the school starts with his father. Because they simply were unable to handle their oldest son, in 1902, Ruth's father, mother, and a Justice of the Peace fi led the form that legally labeled the seven-year-old George Ruth Jr. "incorrigible and vicious...beyond the control" of his parents. He was committed to the St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys and legally removed from his parents' care, becoming a ward of the Bavarian Brothers who operated the school. George Ruth Jr. would spend most of his next 12 years inside of St. Mary's. When he left, it would be because he had signed a professional baseball contract. Jack Dunn, owner of the Baltimore Orioles, to come watch George Jr. play in February 1914 after watching him for less than an hour. 1935 National Chicle Bronko Nagurski #34. Far and away the most valuable card in the National Chicle set, Bronko outpaces his closest competitor by multiples when it comes to value and desirability. The scarcest card in the Chicle set pictures Italian gridiron star Flavio “Bull” Tosi, who appears in the uniform of the Boston Redskins. In the event that a One Of A Kind Auctions LLC representative fails to properly execute an absentee, internet or telephone bid (regardless of reason) the representative and/or One Of A Kind Auctions LLC will not be held responsible for any actual or imagined losses incurred. Telephone bids will normally be arranged on items with estimated value of $500.00 or above. Items below $500.00 must be executed as absentees unless otherwise approved by One Of A Kind Auctions LLC. Breach of Purchase:
