KANALEY AWARD 1935-36 John Moir Perhaps the most prestigious honor awarded to Notre Dame student- 1935-36 Paul Nowak athletes is the Byron V. Kanaley Award. Presented each year since 1927 at 1936-37 John Moir commencement exercises, the Kanaley Awards go to the senior monogram 1936-37 Paul Nowak athletes who have been most exemplary as students and leaders. The 1937-38 John Moir awards, selected by the Faculty Board on Athletics, are named in honor of a 1937-38 Paul Nowak 1904 Notre Dame graduate who was a member of the baseball team as an 1943-44 Leo Klier undergraduate. Ripley served Notre Dame as head coach in only one season, finishing COACH OF THE YEAR 17-4 in ’45-’46. He enjoyed a 15-year NBA career and still stands U.S. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM third on the Notre Dame all-time career list with 2,223 points. 1967 Jay Miller COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME 2007 Austin Carr UNITED STATES UNDER-22 TEAM 1993 Monty Williams Former Irish great Austin Carr was inducted into the National Collegiate 1997 Pat Garrity Basketball Hall of Fame on Nov. 19, 2007, at the College Basketball Experience next to the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Carr, who remains Notre Dame’s career scoring leader with 2,650 points UNITED STATES JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAM and a career scoring average of 34.6 points per game, became part of the 1998 Matt Carroll second class that was inducted into the Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. 1999 Matt Carroll Carr played for the Irish for three seasons (1968-71) and more than 40 years following his graduation he remains the school’s all-time career scoring leader.
