The House committee on Rules, to whom were referred the Resolutions (filed by Mr. Thompson of Ludlow) on the location of the NASA Electronics Research Center in the Boston area (House, No. 3243), report that the same ought to be adopted.

In the Year One Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four.

Resolutions on the location of the nasa electronicsresearch CENTER IN THE BOSTON AREA. 1 Whereas, The location of the sixty-one million dollar NASA# 2 Electronics Research Center in the Boston area was officially 3 approved by the Senate Space Committee on 4 March 10, 1964; and 5 Whereas, The Center will prove to be the biggest economic 6 benefit to the Greater Boston Area and Massachusetts in recent 7 years and will make the Commonwealth the electronics center 8 of the free world; and 9 Whereas, It is predicted by the Chamber of Commerce that 10 the Center will mean some fifty-eight hundred new jobs and one 11 hundred and fifty million dollars in ultimate wages for the area, 12 over eighteen million dollars annual purchases in goods and serv- -13 ices from local-based businesses and more than twelve million 14 man hours of employment, trade and services; and 15 Whereas, This tremendous achievement of locating the Cen- -16 ter in Massachusetts is the result of bi-paitisan, unselfish and 17 energetic support and efforts of many dedicated and interested 18 civic minded citizens; and 19 Whereas, Amongst which, the foremost were our late and 20 great President, John F. Kennedy, United States Senators 21 Edward M. Kennedy and , Speaker of the 22 House of Representatives John W. McCormack, all the mem- 23 bers of Congress from this Commonwealth, Governor Endicott 24 Peabody, Mayor John F. Collins of Boston, and the President 25 and Executive officers of the Greater Boston Chamber of Com-g, 26 merce; therefore be it 27 Resolved, That the Massachusetts House of Representatives 28 hereby extends to all those responsible in any way for securing 29 the location of the NASA Electronics Research Center in Greater 30 Boston, its sincerest congratulations and highest commendations; 31 and be it further 1964.] HOUSE No. 3243. 3

32 Resolved, That a. copy of these resolutions be transmitted by 33 the Secretary of the Commonwealth to Mrs. John F. Kennedy, 34 widow of our late President, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, 35 Senator Leverett Saltonstall, Speaker John W. McCormack, 36 the members of Congress from this Commonwealth, Governor 37 Endicott Peabody, Mayor John F. Collins, and the President 38 of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
