Nea Odos The Scope of our Work At the end of 2006, after an international tender offer, “NEA ODOS CONCESSION SOCIETE ANONYME” (Nea Odos S.A.) undertook the study, design, construction, operation, commercial exploitation and maintenance of the “Ionia Odos” Concession project, with a total budget of 1.1 billion euros. The scope of Nea Odos’s activities comprises the construction, maintenance and operation of modern toll motorways. Being one of the most important infrastructure project for Greece, our toll motorways follow European standards and contribute to the economic and social development of the country, but also provide for the protection of the environment. Our primary commitment is the fast and safe commute for all Greek citizens along with the provision of high quality services. Operating 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, Nea Odos has created a secure road environment that significantly reduces travel distances and guarantees prominent road safety and customer service processes. In the context of enhancing infrastructure projects following international standards, a 01. great number of works, such as road widening, guardrail replacement, interchange reconstruction, redesigning of existing parking spaces and the creation of new ones have taken place along this part of the motorway that runs through the prefectures of Attica, The Schimatari – Chalkida Viotia and Fthiotida.

The 2018 Report is extremely important to us, as 2018 signals the operational completion of our project, and during this year: A) Both the construction and the full operation of the Ionia Odos motorway have been completed, a project linking 2 Regions, 4 prefectures and 10 Municipalities, giving a boost to development not only in Western Greece and Epirus, but in the whole country, B) Significant infrastructure upgrade projects have also been designed, implemented and completed at the A.TH.E Motorway section from Metamorphosis in Attica to Scarfia, a section we operate, maintain and manage. During the first year of the full operation of the motorways - with 500 employees in management and operation, with more than 350 kilometres of modern, safe motorways in 7 prefectures of our country with a multitude of local communities - we incorporated in our daily operations actions, activities and programs we had designed, aiming at supporting and implementing the key strategic and development pillars of our company for the upcoming years.

    Sociolinguistic Variation in Athenian Suburban Speech

    Journal of Greek Linguistics 13 (2013) 30–53 brill.com/jgl Sociolinguistic Variation in Athenian Suburban Speech Irene Theodoropoulou Qatar University [email protected] Abstract This article focuses on the description and interpretation of the social meaning of sociolinguis- tic variation in Athenian suburban speech. A descriptive statistical and a Varbrul analysis of the syntactic variable Verb and presence or absence of Prepositional Phrase (V +/– PP), as it is used by native northern and western suburbanites of Athens, suggests that primarily the area (northern and western suburbia) and, to a lesser extent, the sex of the speakers are statistically significant macro social factors constraining variation. In an effort to tease out the social meaning of the varia- tion, a further analysis of some micro factors within each area, including the group of speakers, the topic, and the stance towards the rivalry between the aforementioned suburban areas, suggests that variation in both areas is interactionally constrained, but in the northern area it tends to be more friendship group-constrained, while in the western area it is more education-constrained. In light of these findings, the sociolinguistic implications of the study translate into the analytical need to account for the relationship between interactional and social factors in the description of variable grammars. Introduction The recent (and still ongoing) social unrest in Athens, the capital of Greece, resulting primarily from the austerity measures that the Greek government has adopted in order to tackle the harsh financial situation the country has been facing for a long time, has revived an interdisciplinary interest in the social geographical mosaic of the contemporary Athenian society.

The material of 107 specimens of small mammals was collected in 19 localities of Epeirus in the years 1985 — 1989. Additional faunistic records were obtained by field observations. Together, information on the distribution of 14 species were obtained. From these Miller's water shrew {Neomys anomalus) is reported first time from this region. Some questions concerning the distribution and habitats of individual species are discussed. Key words. Mammaha, Insectívora, Rodentia, distribution, taxonomy, Epeirus, Greece. Introduction The mammal fauna of the west coast of the Balkan peninsula, south of Neretva river, belongs to the most interesting of Europe. The reason for this is above all an unusual- ly high occurrence of endemism which is typical for this area. So far, only the northernmost part of this area, i. e., Monte Negro, Jugoslavia has been investigated satisfactorily (Petrov 1979). From the rest of this area data are either almost completely absent (Albania) or they are very incomplete (Greece). Therefore, the present paper is intended to contribute to the knowledge of small mammals of Epeirus, a region which is situated in the north-west part of Greece, in the close proximity of Albania. The first data on small of this region were pubhshed by Miller (1912) who had at his disposal a small series of mammals from the island Korfu.
