Recommendations The following recommendations are presented on the basis of existing information concerning the productivity of the Fraser River estuary, its utilization by Pacific salmon, and marine, species, the commercial, recreational and preservation values of these resources, and the extent to which past developments have reduced the estuarine zone. They are presented also in full recognition of the critical limitations in our knowledge of the physical and biological factors and interactions which must be clarified before it will be possible to accurately quantify the impact of presently proposed developments on these renewable resources. -

The Strategic Plan establishes the mission, vision and values for YVR, while the Master Plan (this document) looks forward 20 years to ensure the best use of YVR’s fundamental resource – land. The Capital Plan and Financial Plan allocate funding over a 10-year span and identify what infrastructure will be built and when. The Three-Year Business Plan looks three years out and provides the planning context for the Airport Authority’s annual Business Plan, which outlines airport initiatives and objectives for a one-year period. Recognizing the certainty of uncertainty, the Airport Authority reviews plans regularly, monitors external events closely, favours conservative timing for capital expenditures, builds infrastructure incrementally (whenever possible) and incorporates flexibility, transparency and open, honest communications into its planning activities. Our mission is to serve our community by building outstanding airports, and this plan shares the vision of how YVR will meet the needs of our province twenty years from now. Despite having a significantly smaller metropolitan population than the Vancouver area, the Portland area was found to have significantly more bridges (60% more) and significantly more bridge lanes (75% more) crossing the Willamette River than the Vancouver area has crossing the Fraser River. Now, with our current study, “Bridging the Infrastructure Gap,” we have examined bridge infrastructure in four major western Canadian cities (Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Saskatoon) to see how well served these cities are compared to the Vancouver area. -

To maintain Richmond's high level of :flood protection, the City will need to increase the height of the City's dikes by 1.2 mover the next 25 to 75 years. The 2008 - 2031 Richmond Flood Protection Strategy identified the need to "Prepare and implement a comprehensive dike improvement program." On February 11, 2014, Council approved $200,000 from the 2014 Capital Budget to prepare Dike Master Plan Phase 2. -

Contact E-Fauna BC The following list contains records of Casual and Accidental birds recorded in the Vancouver Checklist Area. The Checklist Area covers Greater Vancouver and its vicinity from the International Boundary (but including Point Roberts, Washington) north to 49’ 35’ N (including Furry Creek), west to the middle of the Strait of Georgia and Howe Sound (including Bowen Island), east to 122’ 33’ W (Bradner Road & 288th St.) in Abbotsford, Aldergrove and Maple Ridge, but including all of Golden Ears Provincial Park. The Vancouver Checklist has a total of 413 species, 169 breeding species, 140 species seen less than once per year with 10 introduced and 9 extirpated species. Confirmed records appear first and are documented either by photographs, specimens, tape recordings or by written field notes (FN). Accepted records seen by a single observer are treated as a sight record (sr). There are 30 species on the list that are under the category of Hypothetical because they are either currently under review or haven’t fully been documented as a definitive record in the region. Below each species name is a list of records showing confirmed records then any Hypothetical records for that species. The casual and accidental records listed include historical records, including specimens, cited observations, photographed records and accepted sightings found in the literature about BC Birds. This List is a general synopsis of occurrence and should be interpreted as such. Where there are more than 20 records of a particular species, I have tried to add a little extra information. -
