GENERAL TRAIL TIPS • Most DuPage County forest preserves are open daily from one hour after sunrise symbol key until one hour after sunset. • Leave room on the trail for others to pass. Single file is best for groups on busy days. Information • Dogs are welcome but must be on leashes less than 10 feet long. Always clean up after your pet. Parking • Always bring water. On longer trips, consider packing snacks, bug spray Water and sunscreen. • If there’s snow on the trails, please do not walk or ride in set ski tracks. Restrooms • Don’t litter. Pack out what you pack in. Picnic Shelter • Be aware of wildlife. Remember, you are a visitor in their habitat. • In an emergency, dial 911. Minishelter Picnic Area BIKERS • Only ride on designated trails and travel in a controlled, consistent manner. Bench Be especially careful around curves and in parking lots. Guard Residence • Always ride single file on the right side of the trail. When passing, alert visitors ahead with a polite call of “passing on your left.” Mile Marker • Be careful around horses, which may startle easily. Give them ample room. Observation Area Do not pass horses on bridges. Hiking HORSEBACK RIDERS Biking • Keep your horse under control at all times. Racing is strictly prohibited. • Do not ride in picnic areas, campgrounds, off-leash dog areas, model-craft areas or Cross-Country Skiing other areas as posted. Horseback Riding • Refrain from riding on wet or muddy trails. • Only use wheeled carts less than 4 feet wide. Horse Jumping • Whenever safely possible, please clean up after your horse. Fishing
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIERS Archery • Use the outside of the trail for classical skiing and the inside for freestyle skiing Canoe Launch and other trail activities. Boat Launch
DOG SLEDDERS Dam • Only use carts and sleds less than 4 feet wide. • Remain on the trail and travel in a controlled, safe manner. Off-Leash Dog Area • Use wheeled training carts only on trails that are also designated for bicycles. Camping • When snow conditions allow, use sleds only on select trails at Blackwell and Greene Valley forest preserves. Snow Tubing Model Airfield ACCESSIBILITY The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is committed to making its forest Model-Boating Area preserves and facilities accessible to all visitors.
