The Watcher Free FREE THE WATCHER PDF Jeanne C Stein | 304 pages | 27 Nov 2007 | Penguin Publishing Group | 9780441015467 | English | New York, NY, United Kingdom The Watcher ( film) - Wikipedia The Watchers are a race of fictional extraterrestrials appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics whose purpose is to watch over the multiverses The Watcher the series. The Watchers are one of the oldest species in the universe and are committed to observing and compiling knowledge on all aspects of the universe. This policy of total non-interference came into existence due to a former, well-meant attempt by the Watchers to bestow advanced knowledge on the Prosilicans, who used the nuclear technology gained to create weapons and destroy themselves. When the Watchers returned to Prosilicus, the survivors blamed them for causing the catastrophe by giving the Prosilicans nuclear technology before they were ready for it. The Watchers then took a vow never to interfere with other civilizations. Despite this, the Watcher Uatu has revealed himself to the superhero The Watcher the Fantastic Fourtelling them of his race. He complimented Reed Richards and claimed he would go to a more distant part of the galaxy to observe humanity. He transported the Hulk there to get the Ultimate Machine, The Watcher contains all the information in the Universe. The Hulk battled the Amphibious Qnaxwho had also been sent to recover the machine. The Watcher transported them away from his machines to battle, and when the The Watcher won, he transported Qnax back to The Watcher homeworld. He then took the Hulk back to his base, where the Hulk took the Machine despite the Watcher's warnings. The Leader transported him The Watcher to Earth and tried to use the device. However, the tremendous amount of knowledge proved too much for the Leader. He collapsed to the ground, unmoving, and the Hulk assumed that he died of shock. The Watcher then transported the The Watcher Machine back to his planet. Uatu is later banished by his race for aiding the Fantastic Four against the threat of his rogue nephew, Aron, the Renegade Watcherwho tries to destroy the universe. There is also The Watcher tongue-in-cheeksplintered-off faction of Watchers that call themselves The Criticswho not only observe events, but also give dramatic critique as they take place. The only known Critic looks similar to other Watchers, but wears a mustache, goateedark sunglassesand, rather than togadresses in a tweed sport coat. When Nova briefly visits Uatu and witnesses him watching various alternate realities, he learns that Uatu's father was the Watcher who originally gave nuclear technology to the Prosilicans, with Uatu's search of parallel universes being motivated by the desire to find the one world where his father's act of charity was proved to be the right thing to do. The The Watcher are cosmic beings, who possess the innate ability to achieve virtually any effect desired, including augmenting personal attributes, time and space manipulation, molecular manipulation, energy projection, and a range of mental powers. They also have access to highly advanced The Watcher. The Watcher Uatu often observes how key events The Watcher the Earth Marvel Universe differed in alternate The Watcher and speculates on the related consequences. The Watcher appears as the host of Marvel Comics The Watcher. On the first page, he appears as a peeping-tom. As punishment for their non-interference during the birth of their arch-enemy Galactusthe Celestials force the Watchers The Watcher observe the impregnation of newly formed planets with their Celestial eggs, and the eventual birth of the Celestial within, which ultimately destroys that planet. In the Ultimate Marvel alternate universe limited series Ultimate Originsthe Watchers are depicted as machines that speak through a human host Sue Storm. They choose Rick Jones as their "herald" to help humans survive an "upcoming crisis". They are seen in both in the film and a post-credits scene. In these scenes, an informant of theirs portrayed by Stan Lee tells the uninterested group of Watchers about the experiences he has had on Earth when they meet with him on an asteroid. During the post-credits part, the Watchers meeting with their informant take their leave as the informant protests that The Watcher are his only ride back to Earth. Director and screenwriter James Gunn has stated that the scene was created because of the online fan-theory The Watcher Stan Lee's cameos throughout the franchise are due to his relation to the Watchers. The Watchers are referenced in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. If the player asks Uatu about the Watchers, Uatu will bring up a history of the Watchers introducing technology to the residents of Prosilicus. Copyright 2013 Shawn Patrick Gilmore THE INVENTION OF THE GRAPHIC NOVEL: UNDERGROUND COMIX AND CORPORATE AESTHETICS BY SHAWN PATRICK GILMORE DISSERTATION Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English in the Graduate College of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2013 Urbana, Illinois Doctoral Committee: Professor Michael Rothberg, Chair Professor Cary Nelson Associate Professor James Hansen Associate Professor Stephanie Foote ii Abstract This dissertation explores what I term the invention of the graphic novel, or more specifically, the process by which stories told in comics (or graphic narratives) form became longer, more complex, concerned with deeper themes and symbolism, and formally more coherent, ultimately requiring a new publication format, which came to be known as the graphic novel. This format was invented in fits and starts throughout the twentieth century, and I argue throughout this dissertation that only by examining the nuances of the publishing history of twentieth-century comics can we fully understand the process by which the graphic novel emerged. In particular, I show that previous studies of the history of comics tend to focus on one of two broad genealogies: 1) corporate, commercially-oriented, typically superhero-focused comic books, produced by teams of artists; 2) individually-produced, counter-cultural, typically autobiographical underground comix and their subsequent progeny. In this dissertation, I bring these two genealogies together, demonstrating that we can only truly understand the evolution of comics toward the graphic novel format by considering the movement of artists between these two camps and the works that they produced along the way.

The Uatu System for Visualizing Networked Writing Activity J. Holden Hill, Phillip Parli-Horne, Paul Gestwicki Brian McNely Computer Science Department English Department [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] [email protected] Ball State University Computer Science Department Technical Report 2011-01 June 3, 2011 Abstract Over the course of an academic year, two students and a pair of faculty advisors have written software to visualize how participants collaborate on networked writing projects. Using Google Docs as a way to allow students to instantaneously interact with a document in real-time, this software captures data from Google’s cloud service and displays it in a pair of visualizations. We used agile methods of software development to devise a way to implement their ideas in an appealing way. This document contains detailed instructions on where the latest iteration of the software can be located. It also details the process of making the system operational on a new machine, stating how the software works and where it should be placed in the file system. The document also explains how one can use the system to visualize writing collaboration. Finally, many failed iterations of the software have led to meaningful reflections on software development practices. The document elaborates on the hardships of development, as well as provides insight on how this software may evolve toward richer experiences. 1Primary contact 1 1. Introduction The Uatu project is designed to visualize collaborations in a digital workspace. The name comes from the Marvel Comics character, Uatu the Watcher, who is tasked with watching over the universe; in the same way, this software watches over revisions of Google Documents and stores their information for later access.

  • CAPTAIN MARVEL # History: the History of the Drug Supplier and Cult Leader Known As the Black Talon Is Currently Unrevealed
BLACK TALON Villain Real Name: Unrevealed. Occupation: Cult leader, drug supplier. Identity: Secret. Legal Status: Citizen of the United States (Puerto Rico) with no criminal record. Other Aliases: The Living Loa, "Chicken-head". Place of Birth: Presumably somewhere in Puerto Rico. Marital Status: Single. Known Relatives: None. Group Affiliation: Head of his own voodoo cult. Base of Operations: A sugar/cocaine plantation in Puerto Rico. First Post-Reboot Appearance: CAPTAIN MARVEL # History: The history of the drug supplier and cult leader known as the Black Talon is currently unrevealed. At some point in the past, he learned the art of voodoo and put that talent to work in raising zombies to work a farm – in reality a Colonial-era plantation he either inherited or acquired – where he grew marijuana and coca plants alongside sugar cane (the plantation's legitimate crop). At the same time, he began a cult of voodoo worshippers who revered him as a "living loa" (the "loa" being the spirits or gods – the line between them is often blurred – invoked by voodoo practitioners.). In time, he became one of the largest suppliers of marijuana and cocaine in the Caribbean, with contacts in Miami, Havana, San Juan, and New Orleans. Black Talon's operations first came into conflict with the current generation of superheroes when a rocket launched by NASA carrying a payload of a powerful nerve gas to be disposed of by being sent into the sun was sabotaged and landed off the coast from his plantation. This brought him into conflict with Captain Marvel, who was under orders from his superior, Colonel Yon-Rogg, to release the nerve gas on a human settlement (see Captain Marvel; Yon-Rogg).

  • The Hulk Outline
The Hulk Synopsis Bruce Banner volunteers to be a test subject for a gamma-based super soldier program for General Ross. The experiment fails and the exposure to the gamma radiation turn Banner into the Hulk, who mindlessly kills everyone in his path. Banner becomes a fugitive, turning into the Hulk every time his heart rate exceeds 200 beats per minute, and Ross starts the Hulkbusters to deal with the Hulk and other gamma- powered superhumans. Over the next two years, the Hulk gradually becomes more intelligent over time and fights other gamma-powered supervillains like the Leader and Abomination. Banner gradually takes notice and sympathizes with him. One day, as Banner walks around in Las Vegas, he notices Abomination rampaging in Vegas Strip. Abomination notices him and he attacks Banner as he turns into the Hulk. They fight as Hulkbusters come and open fire on them, killing innocent people (including children) in the process. Hulk takes them down as Abomination retreats, and the rest of the people run from the Hulk. Banner encourages Hulk to prove he’s a hero to the world, but Hulk refuses, thinking he’ll never be accepted among humanity. Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters, comes to him and offers him to come to Reno with her after eavesdropping on his talk with Hulk. They make it there and they’re greeted by Jen’s friends, Jane Foster and Betty Ross. They have lunch at a local pizza restaurant when Absorbing Man and the Wrecking Crew cause chaos. Thor (who Jane arranged with Jen and Betty to meet) comes to stop them, but is overwhelmed when the villain activate gamma devices that increase their power.
