DISTANCES ARE ONE-WAY. Elevation: 9,400 feet at Lake Eldora Ski Area; 10,720 feet at Yankee Doodle Lake. Open To: Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing. Dogs are prohibited on this trail. Access From Nederland, head south on Colorado Highway 119 for ½ mile. Turn west onto County Road 130. Follow signs to the Eldora Ski Resort. Park on the south side of the road at the Forest Service sign for the trailhead, located outside the Eldora Ski Resort parking area (trailhead is located just east of the Eldora sign). Trail Highlights The Jenny Creek Trail begins to the east of the Ho-Hum chairlift and climbs south along the trees bordering the eastern edge of the downhill beginners' slope. It passes behind the top of the ski lift, and then turns left into the woods. There is a junction for the alternate lower route, which skirts the edge of the developed Nordic area. If you choose to go this way, please follow the signs that indicate the public access route. The trail climbs to an old road, and then turns left and heads down. Be prepared for a right turn in the middle of the hill. The trail descends through the woods. At 1.6 miles, it meets with the old Jenny Creek Road and turns right, up along the creek. To the left, the Jenny Lake Road drops gently along the creek for 0.8 miles to the gate at the boundary of the Eldora Nordic area. Up the creek, in a quarter mile, the Guinn Mountain Trail #820 forks right (north). Another 0.8 miles up the Jenny Creek Road, there is a four-way intersection with the cutoff to the Guinn Mountain Trail. To the left (south), another side trail continues to the Moffat Road. Advanced recreationists may wish to continue the remaining 2.2 miles to Yankee Doodle Lake. Watch for snowmobilers. Important Information Dogs are not allowed on the Guinn Mountain Trail. Both parking and access to the Jenny Creek and Guinn Mountain Trails are available through the cooperation of Eldora Mountain Resort.
