The 2019 Steuben Parade Line up Book OFFICIAL LINE-UP BOOK WICHTIGE INFORMATIONEN FÜR ALLE GRUPPEN IN DER STEUBEN PARADE – NEW YORK CITY (FOR ENGLISH, SEE BACK SLEEVE) Wir freuen uns, Sie heute auf der Fifth Avenue begrüssen zu dürfen. Es ist daher wichtig, dass sich alle Beteiligten an diese Anweisungen halten, um die Parade zu einem Erfolg zu machen: - Finden Sie sich vor der Parade püntlich am angegebenen Treffpunkt ein. - Folgen Sie den Anweisungen von Division Marshal. Sie sind freiwillige Helfer zeigen Ihnen den korrekten Platz in der Aufstellung. - Stellen Sie sich so auf, wie es die durchgehen numerierte Marschordnung beschreibt, und bleiben Sie während der Parade in Ihrer Position in der ausgewiesenen Division. - Folgen Sie der Gruppe (Wagen, Auto, etc.) vor Ihnen in kurzem abstand und lassen Sie keine grösseren Lücken entstehen. Schliessen Sie Lücken, in dem Sie schneller laufen aber nicht rennen. Grössere Gruppen marschieren in 4er- oder 5er- Reihe. - Leisten Sie Anweisungen der freiwilligen Helfer Folge. - Essen und trinken Sie während der Parade nicht. - Bitte lassen Sie Handys in der Tasche; führen Sie keine Telefonate währen der Parade. Musikgruppen: Bitte spielen Sie während der gesamten Dauer der Parade in Ganzer Besetzung – nicht nur die Rhythmus – Abteilung. Gruppenführer: Bitte leiten Sie all diese Informationen an alle Mitglieder der Gruppe weiter. Die Deutsch-Amerikaner in New York sind stolz darauf, eine der grössten und farbenprächtigsten Paraden der Stadt zu veranstalten. Wir wollen dabei einen guten Eindruck machen. These organizations are grouped into nine divisions and follow the Parade Officials, Honored Guests and Reviewing Party. A year ago, we unveiled Career Pathways: One City Working Together, a transformative plan to expand access to career-track jobs in fast-growing industry sectors, improve job quality, and foster a more cohesive workforce system. This progress report gives an overview of our achievements since releasing Career Pathways and the work that is currently underway. The City has both added and shifted our resources and policies towards training and education—reaching nearly 7,500 people through partnerships with community colleges through Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) and employers to build trainings that can lead to employment with growth opportunities and family-sustaining wages. We are beginning to move away from “rapid attachment” job placement, almost doubling our investment in skills training, and committing more dollars towards new models, including bridge programs and targeted entrepreneurship programs, serving over 18,700 New Yorkers—34% more than in FY 2014—combined. We have also begun building system-wide consensus around common definitions of job quality so that all agencies can work systemically to achieve this ambitious vision.

So just as we deal with the most important moment in the fight against the illness in our hospitals to save lives, there's a new front opening up and we have to be there for people who need food, cannot have any New Yorker go hungry.

As construction for the East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project is slated to begin this fall, it is problematic that there are still basic unanswered questions about the future of the compost yard both during ESCR construction or after it is completed. We urge you to implement measures that ensure the uninterrupted operation of the composting program during the construction and commit now to engage with LESEC to include the Compost Yard in the final design for East River Park once ESCR is completed. In 1990, LESEC started this compost program to beautify a 15,000 square-foot lot leased from the City, as part of LESEC’s broad efforts to demonstrate that reducing waste can improve the local environment and enhance sustainability. The garbage strewn lot was transformed into a vibrant community green space, as the soil was amended with compost and a garden grew. In subsequent years, the Center was able to bring composting to a broader community by collecting organic waste at the Union Square Greenmarket, and to partner with Parks to establish the East River Compost Yard, launching sustainability and public education programs in East River Park.

No. 209-2014, which will dramatically reduce pollution and waste by requiring stores in New York City to charge ten cents, to be retained by the retailer, for all carryout bags (paper or plastic) provided at the register. We urge you to support and the City Council to pass this legislation by Earth Day, April 22, 2015. The proposed legislation has multiple benefits for NYC and its residents. If we are to achieve an 80% reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions by 2050, as promised by Mayor Bill de Blasio, measures like Int. No. 209 are critical. Single-use plastic bags are derived from petroleum and their production, transportation and disposal contribute to climate change. Similarly, paper bags are more costly to retailers, they cost money to recycle and they add to the city’s waste. The proposed legislation will improve neighborhood environmental quality, counteract climate impacts, and reduce city government and private business litter clean-up costs. At the City Council’s Committee on Sanitation & Solid Waste Management’s November 19, 2014 hearing on this bill, Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia stated: New Yorkers use and discard a staggering 10 billion single-use carryout bags annually. For this reason, the Department has historically been a proponent of meaningful single-use carryout bag reform and, more particularly, recycling and waste prevention measures designed to divert materials from New York City’s waste stream. As for single-use plastic carry-out bags, there is a very limited market for plastic bag recycling in the United States.
