ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to know the impact of human activities on population density of Tarsius dianae by estimating the relative population density in four habitat types differently influenced by man. The study was conducted in the vicinity of Kamarora, at the northeastern boundary of Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi. Four different habitats were chosen: (H1) primary or old secondary forest; (H2) secondary forest ± 30 years after clearance with small-scale selective logging; (H3) forest with interspersed small coffee and cocoa plantations; and (H4) forest with selective logging and plantations. The tarsiers’ sleeping sites were determined using triangulation. Relative population density was estimated by measuring the average distances between three nearest neighbors. The results suggest that different human-influenced habitat have different effects on tarsier’s density. The smallest distances (116.2 ± 18 m) between sleeping sites, which represent the highest estimated population density (57.1 groups in one square km), were found in habitat type H1, the least disturbed habitat. Estimated population density in habitat type H3 or “forest plantations” was 38 groups/km2, followed by habitat type H2 or secondary forest with selective logging 36.4 groups/km2, and the smallest population density was estimated at 32.9 groups/km2 in habitat type H4 or forest with selective logging and plantations. -

Translation from Norwegian Regulation on the import, export, re-export and transfer or possession of threatened species of wild flora and fauna (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, CITES) Commended by Royal Decree of xx xx 2016 on the authority of the Act of 19 June 2009 no. 100 relating to the Management of Nature Diversity, section 26; the Act of 15 June 2001 no. 79 relating to Environmental Protection on Svalbard, section 26, second paragraph: and the Act of 27 February 1930 no. 2 relating to Jan Mayen, section 2, third paragraph. Commended by Ministry of Climate and Environment. Chapter 1 - Purpose and scope 1. Purpose The purpose of this Regulation is to conserve natural wild species which are, or may become, threatened with extinction as the result of trade. 2. Objective scope This Regulation concerns the import, export and re-export of specimens, alive or dead, of animal and plant species cited in Annex 1. Re-export shall mean export of any specimen that has previously been introduced into the Regulation area. This Regulation also concerns domestic transfer and possession of specimens, alive or dead, of animal and plant species cited in Annex 1. The first and second subparagraphs also concern parts of products that are prepared from or declared as prepared from such species. Hunting trophies are also considered to be dead specimens/ products. Hunting trophy means the whole or recognisable parts of animals, either raw, processed or produced. The first, second and third subparagraphs also concern hybrids. Hybrid means the re-crossing of specimens of species regulated under CITES as far back as the fourth generation, with specimens of species not regulated under CITES. -

JRC Emergency Reporting - Activation #021 - UPDATE #1 - 01 Oct 2018 EUROPEAN COMMISSION JOINT RESEARCH CENTRE 01 Oct 2018 17:00 UTC Mw 7.5 Earthquake in Indonesia, 28 Sep 2018 GDACS Earthquake RED Alert, GDACS Tsunami ORANGE Alert 01 Oct 2018 - Emergency Report - UPDATE #1 Figure 1 - Location of the Mw 7.5 Earthquake event and the other 6 earthquakes in Indonesia, with the overall shakemap of all the earthquakes. 1 Executive Summary ● As a result of the strong 7.5 Mw earthquake that hit the island of Sulawesi (Sulawesi Tengah province/Central Sulawesi, Indonesia) on 28 Sep at 10:02 UTC at a depth of 10 km, and the consequent Tsunami that was generated, the humanitarian situation appears severe. ● The fatalities balance continues to increase; at the time of writing the death toll reached 844 in Donggala, Palu, Parigi Moutong, Sigi; 90 people are missing but search and rescue operations JRC Emergency Reporting - Activation #021 - UPDATE #1 - 01 Oct 2018 are still ongoing. Some of the remote villages have not yet been reached and therefore the balance could become worst. ● Several discussions are ongoing in the International Community on the Tsunami Early Warning System that either did not work or was however unable to save lives. BMKG provided details on the system working conditions but some of the choices still need some clarification. ● There is not yet a clear general overview of the Tsunami impact occurred in the area; two cities are largely mentioned in the media (Palu and Donggala) but a clear extended mapping is still ongoing. Copernicus and International Charter have been activated and are providing important information on this point. -

Sukarno Hatta Km.9 Palu, Sulawesi Tengah, Indonesia [email protected]; [email protected] Article History: Received: 10 November 2020; Revised: 12 January 2021; Accepted: 27 January 2021; Published online: 05 April 2021 Abstract: Most of the local communities living around the forest fulfil their daily needs, depending on the forest resources, but the government and even global policy have enacted the forest as a protected area or national park. The purpose of this research is to understand and explain the principles of customary law concerning the natural resources that exist in the national park, and to determine the effectiveness of customary law in protecting these natural resources. The research method applied to explore community values and attitudes is socio-legal. The research revealed society's habits through exploration, and norms and the rule of law are embraced. Some principles of customary law on natural resources include palia (taboo) and ombo (prohibition) pertinent to natural resource conservation. Both of these principles are adhered to and have been hereditary. The values on utilising natural resources are still complied with (effective), although state law takes a formal approach for any infringement surrounding the national park.
