It is with great pleasure that I present this year's Annual Report to the members of the Association. Once again, it has been a very successful season both on and off the park. With 44 teams, the competition was keen across all grades once again. Congratulations to the minor premiers for their consistency across the season, and to the major premiers for their efforts in the finals. My thanks also to our. Patron, Mr Harry Solomons, and the South Sydney Junior Rugby League Football Club, for their support of the Association. The Association is in a sound financial position, as shown in the audited accounts contained within this Annual Report. This means that the Association is able to expand and improve the status of Park cricket in the Eastern suburbs over the next year. This would not be possible without the contributions made to cricket by the Board, and its volunteer members, in order for the more than 800 players to get on the park and play each weekend. Thank you, as a Board you have made my job a pleasure. And finally, thank you to each of the member clubs, their administrators, and finally, all the players of each and every team — you are what park cricket is really all about... Yours in cricket

President's Report Ladies and Gentlemen: It has been II years since the Moore Park, South Sydney and Catholic Cricket Associations combined to form our current Moore Park &South East Cricket Association. The 2005-2006 season saw 44 teams register with two new sides in Edgemasters and Pelicans. A warm welcome to both these new clubs and I hope they enjoy many seasons of competitive cricket in our Association. My congratulations to the Premiership, Minor Premiership, Club Champions and individual award winners on their success in 2005-2006. In particular Rex Dolphins, CloveIly RSL and Pelicans who were not only Premiership winners but also minor Premiers in their respective grades. It has not been for a number of years that 3 out of 6 grades have achieved this feat, again well done all! Success was enjoyed on the Representative front with all representative games recorded as victories. It was particularly pleasing to win again the A.T. Ray trophy, a trophy we have never lost to the Sydney Morning Competition in our annual match against this side. This year we traveled to Bathurst and for the first time since this annual fixture was inaugurated some 5 years ago the home side (Bathurst) lost. My congratulations to the representative squad on a job well done, not only on the field but off the field, you are all a credit to the Association. My thanks to our captains Nick Carter and John Jakas, Manager Bill Glacken , umpire Gary Fulford and our scorer Marie Fulford who all played vital roles in our success on the rep front. This year saw the first Twenty20 competition run at park level by an Association affiliated to the NSWDCA. This competition was put together and run by our Vice President Dave Power. My congratulations to Dave, as he put his vision of a 20/20 competition into a successful reality. I am sure all who played would agree it was a very worthwhile venture. My thanks again to Dave well done. For an Association to be successful, it needs support. I would like to thank a number of people for their support in season 2005-2006-: Mr. Harry Solomons, Managing Director Kingsgrove Sports. Harry is our Patron and long time supporter of our Association. My thanks to Harry for his generous donations throughout the year and I look forward to working with Harry for many

• seasons to come. I urge all clubs to visit Harry's store in Kinsgrove and I am sure you will be well looked after. Thanks again Harry. South Sydney Juniors Club. Not only do we get a great deal for our presentation evening but the club also financially contributes to ground costs each year. To the

7 Board of South's Juniors my thanks for your continued support and the Association looks forward to continuing our relationship for many years to come. Kensington War Memorial RSL. Thank you to the Board for the use of the club for delegates and Board meetings. The club has become our base for meetings and we are truly grateful to be allowed the use of the various meeting rooms. Thank you also for the trophy cabinet that houses our perpetual trophies. Centennial Park Trust, Botany Council, Randwick Council. Our thanks to these bodies who provide and maintain our grounds each week. A thank you to Ed Neylan who arranged the use of Tempe for part of the season to alleviate some early season shortage of grounds. The MPSECA Board. An Association does not and cannot function without the dedicated group of volunteers that make up your Board. My thanks to each and everyone on the Board for not only their time but their contribution in the decision making process. A special thanks to Vice President Dave Power who this year took on additional responsibilities. Unfortunately our Secretary Tim Booth resigned part way through the season. My thanks to Tim for his efforts this year and in past years he has been on the Board. A thank you to Stephen Silcock, who stepped into the role as Secretary and did a fine job. Umpires. My thanks to the umpires who each Saturday control our fixtures. I look forward to seeing more umpires next season as a result of new courses the DCA will be running. The Judiciary- Thank you to Chairmen John Walden and the members of his committee. This year there were a number of judicial hearings. This was disappointing as past seasons had seen unacceptable behaviour as being on the decline. The Association will be looking at a revamp of the penalty process in order to stamp out those individuals who wish to spoil Saturday afternoon cricket for those who want to play sport without intimidation or violence. To all players and members of the Association. My thanks for your support for without our members we do not have, this great association. Season 2006-2007 will be our I2 th year as MPSECA and the Board will be looking at expanding our successful Twenty20 competition and the rep comp as well as improving the grounds. It is looking very positive for 2006-2007 and I am sure we will have another successful season, I look forward to seeing you all on the park in 2006-2007.

Paul Brien President Vale - Ralph Driene

The Association this year lost one of its longest associates in Mr Ralph Driene. Rolph was the father of the late Peter Driene, after which the Driene award is named. To his family, particularly his wife Pam, the Association offers its sincere condolences. He will be missed by all at the Association, particularly at our Presentation nights which he always attended and presented the award named in honour of his late son and former park cricketer Peter Driene.

Representative Season Report A very successful season once again, with 20 very dedicated and exemplary talented players giving 100% in both games. Especially in the AT Ray game, when we came back from the brink of defeat to actually win the game in the last over. Well done! The team was well led by firstly Nick Carter for the AT Ray and John Jakas in Bathurst. Some outstanding performances were Chris Townsend scoring 85 to steel us home in the AT Ray game and a super medium pace bowling effort by Phil Vellio on a very responsive wicket in Bathurst. I would personally like to thank Maria Fulford for her outstanding dedication to the scoring duties and the preparation of lunch during the AT Ray game, and also to Gary Fulford for his astute umpiring. Once again thanks to all the people who took an active part this season and lets hope we can continue this next season. Bill Glacken Manager General Reports First to Sixth Grade

95/96 RI Can PL Brien D Buckley A Carmody G Stewart SW Chalmers Treasurer's Report I am pleased to present the audited financial report for the M:PSECA financial year 2005 /06. The association has recorded an operating surplus for the year of $7227. It should be noted however, that this result incorporates expenditure of $1500, being for cheques not presented as of the 31st May 2006. These cheques were: 1. Clovelly R.S.L. 2nd Grade Premiers $400 2. Randwick C.Y.M. 3rd Grade Premiers $400 3. Sydney Morning Cricket Association for Tempe Reserve $700 Receipts for 2005/06 increased by $6152, this was due to the introduction of the Twenty20 competition ($3600), and the self funding of the Representative sides trip to Bathurst ($2362). The hire of wickets this season increased from $30,611 to $32,582 and only the prompt payment of the first invoice by most clubs, which allowed the Board to take advantage of the 10% discount offered by Councils, kept this cost from blowing out even further. A budget based on a 44 team Saturday competition & an 18 team Twenty20 competition was presented to the board during the season. This budget oovered all expected costs and allowed for the $5 player registration fee to cover any unexpected costs and supply a surplus. As there were an unprecedented number of players registered, the surplus was pleasingly high. As a matter of interest I tallied the amount of GST paid by the Association this financial year and the total came to $3,876. As costs continue to rise, the GST will rise accordingly, and in the near future the Association will have to take measures to reclaim this dead money. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the club secretaries / treasurers for the manner in which they handled their clubs affairs, which made my job so much easier to do. I now present to you the 2005/2006 Financial Report
