DISCOVER MISSOURI’S HEARTLAND TRIANGLE Historical attractions and landmarks await in this charming region

AUSCHWITZ EXHIBITION COMING TO KANSAS CITY

Celebrate the Past, Present and Future in 2021 Missouri Bicentennial will be a festive celebration Stephen Foutes Director, Missouri Division of Tourism

Welcome to Missouri! There’s no doubt 2020 was a challenge for the travel business, and although we aren’t out of the woods yet, we’re excited that people are ready to hit the road and discover new adventures here in Missouri.

We have so much to offer all year round, with an extensive wine country, agritourism, charming small towns, two big rivers brimming with outdoor activities, breathtaking scenery and all the amenities of big city life.

With Missouri celebrating its bicentennial in 2021, we’d love to invite you to join us in exploring our history. From the Gateway to the West represented by the Gateway Arch National Park in St. Louis with its iconic 630-foot arch to the jumping off point for the Pony Express in St. Joseph – the Show-Me State is a place where history happened and has been celebrated and preserved for your enjoyment.

Ste. Genevieve is the state’s first settlement and is home to the Sainte Genevieve National Historical Park, which highlights French Colonial architecture and culture.

Before professional baseball was desegregated, black soon-to-be team owners gathered in Kansas City just over 100 years ago to create a league of their own. The game and its influence on American culture are celebrated at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Hikers and bikers come from all over to experience the Katy Trail, the longest rail-to-trail conversion in the country. Visitors from all over the world rediscover the first true American road trip by driving Route 66. In the southern part of the state, the Ozarks offer everything from spectacular vistas and challenging hiking to fishing for wild trout and family-friendly entertainment in Branson.

We’re all this – and so much more. Welcome to Missouri, and enjoy the show.

10 2021 MISSOURI GROUP TOUR GUIDE or the first time, 75 years after the liberation of Auschwitz, a traveling exhibition dedicated to the camp and its historical Fmeaning has been created. The exhibit is set to open at Union Station Kansas City in June 2021. Seven hundred original objects, mostly belonging to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, will be displayed throughout nearly 30,000 square feet of exhibition space. The aim of this meticulous and poignant exhibition is to explore the complex reality of the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau within the historical context, as well as examine how such a place came to exist and the terrible historical and human consequences resulting from the Holocaust. A painstaking conservation process readied these artifacts to be presented for the first time to the public. The project also involves specific loans from several international institutions, including Yad Vashem – The World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. and other Holocaust centers in North America and Europe, as well as from survivors and private collections. Although objects previously have been loaned to various museums and institutions, this project represents an unprecedented collaboration to create an international traveling exhibition, displaying a large collection of objects within the narrative context of the camp’s history. The exhibit will include an original barrack from Auschwitz III-Monowitz and an original German-made Model 2 freight wagon of the type used by the Deutsche-Reichsbahn (German National Seven hundred objects will be displayed throughout the museum.
