COMMON SENSE, NO-COST LEGISLATION TO ALLOW IMMIGRANT YOUTHS TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS OF A HIGHER EDUCATION.

The Illinois DREAM Act(SB2185) does 3 things:

1) Creates a DREAM COMMISSION to raise private, charitable funds for scholarships for youth brought here by their parents without legal status, and who are ineligible for taxpayer-funded aid.

2) Allows immigrant students and their families to participate in ILLINOIS COLLEGE SAVINGS PLANS with their own money.

3) Training for high school counselors on higher education options for DREAM students--will be incorporated in existing trainings.

The Illinois DREAM Act COSTS NOTHING to IL TAXPAYERS.
