Requested EU support: 40.00% The cross-border section Freilassing (DE) - Salzburg (AT) has reached its capacity Recommended funding: limit and is becoming a bottleneck. Construction of a third track from Freilassing to Salzburg is therefore necessary. The proposed Action includes: construction of a Recommended total eligible third track of approximately 1.5 km between Freilassing - Salzburg; construction of €36 851 470 costs: a single-track 150 metre long railway overpass over the border river "", Recommended funding: €14 740 588 including cable routing; construction of holding sidings at the West end of Freilassing station; construction of a centre platform (with dead-end tracks) at the Recommended EU support: 40.00% East end of Freilassing station with the necessary equipment; and renewal and/or extension of three existing railway overpasses in the vicinity of Freilassing station.

Evaluation Remarks

The proposed Action is very relevant; it seeks to remove a bottleneck on a cross-border section. The Action is very mature since there are no pending legal/administrative/technical issues. The impact of the Action is good. It will have positive impact on traffic management, modal split, service quality and safety. The quality of the Action good; the organisational structure is sound.
