Winners, Best Puppy in Show, Best Opposite Sex Puppy in Show, Best Veteran in Show, Best Opposite Sex Veteran in Show ABOUT OUR JUDGES We purchased our first dog in 1971 an Old English Sheepdog – Blue. (Peter my husband had wanted one ever since he was 3 years old). 6 months later we decided she needed a companion and Sara our first Samoyed arraived. Both pets. Sara adored Blue. When Blue passed on we purchased another OES – Nellie. In 1980 we decided to show Nellie, she was placed at her first OES Club show. After this time we started to show Sara at Exemption shows and she was well into Veteran winning everything in sight when she was over 13 years old! I met Pauline and Mick Caller at an Open dog show around that time, they owned a beautiful dog and I admired him so much. Stardust Royce (later Ch). At the time I said to Pauline if she ever had a litter from him could I have a puppy. Kara Moon over Hurstbank arrived in 1984, Rosie’s son, Hurstbank Troubleinsky enjoyed a wonderful show career and later Ch Hurstbank Winter’s Knight also did very well in the ring and excelled in sledge racing. Yenisei Wicked Witch among Hurstbank, CC & RCC and Ch Snowshe Lotus Blossum over Hurstbank were the last Samoyeds we showed. Alas we have no Samoyed in our house now, but a Cao Da Serra de Aires (Portuguese Sheepdog) called Daisy who adores our Sammies which taught her to bark! I’ve been lucky to have owned 6 Dulux dogs working for ICI and later Akxo Nobel over the past 32 years in advertising. Spud one of my Old English Sheepdogs has been the most popular Dulux Dog ever working for Akzo Nobel for 8 years. Appearing on TV, in adverts. On stage in the West End carrying out 150 appearances. Now officially retired – he is 12 years old. Herbert (his adopted) son is carrying on in his footsteps. I’ve awarded Ccs in Samoyeds at Championship Shows twice and am very much looking forward to judging this lovely breed again at Club Show level. Also judged a Club show in Italy. I’ve judged 4 Club Shows for OES over the past few past years. So the last 45 years in dogs has been very busy. Gina Willis SPECIAL AWARDS JUDGE – Mrs. Pat Hutchinson (Karibuni Rough Collies) I began showing Rough Collies in 1978 and first judged the breed at a Limited Show in 1982. I award CC’s in Rough Collies and have also judged two Smooth Collie and two Sheltie Club Open shows in the UK.

  • AKC Education Webinar Series: FSS/Miscellaneous Questions and Answers
AKC Education Webinar Series: FSS/Miscellaneous Questions and Answers 1. Can an FSS Parent Club offer an ATT Test? If the Parent Club is licensed to hold any event, it may offer an ATT Test. 2. For a domestically evolving breed that started with an independent registry for 20 years, then accepted into UKC for an additional 20 years, can these two be combined to qualify for the 40 years required to be considered into FSS, or must the 40 be done within the same registry body? The history of a breed having a registry for a minimum of 40 years can be merged as described, staff will review to determine if it would meet the parameters required. 3. Does AKC have reciprocity with UKC? AKC has open registration with individual breeds with that are registered by UKC. A breed requesting to be enrolled in the AKC FSS based upon UKC recognition would have reciprocity, if it meets the number of years being in existence, until the breed becomes AKC recognized. At which time the individual breeds may request to keep the studbook open for UKC registered dogs. 4. Is it a good practice to submit all of the required data to AKC in one PDF electronically to FSS as a final submission, once all criteria is met for the ease of processing? The FSS Department keeps track of required data, meeting minutes maybe a PDF, the other requirements need to be in different formats. Breed Standard needs to be a word document, membership list needs to be in an Excel as provided.

Abstract Background: The picture of dog mtDNA diversity, as obtained from geographically wide samplings but from a small number of individuals per region or breed, has revealed weak geographic correlation and high degree of haplotype sharing between very distant breeds. We aimed at a more detailed picture through extensive sampling (n = 143) of four Portuguese autochthonous breeds – Castro Laboreiro Dog, Serra da Estrela Mountain Dog, Portuguese Sheepdog and Azores Cattle Dog-and comparatively reanalysing published worldwide data.
