Frisby on the Wreake Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch works by developing close liaison between households and the local police. It aims to help people protect themselves and their property by fostering a community spirit. There is no work or commitment involved in becoming a member of your local Neighbourhood Watch group. Once you have joined you will be kept informed of local issues and concerns. You can join in either of these ways; 1. The most effective way is to join on-line; go to

http://www.ourwatch.org.uk/

and search for your local NHW group using your postcode. Select a group from the list of those displayed. Click on the “Apply to join” button at the bottom of the screen and enter your details. By joining in this way, once you have been accepted into the group by the Coordinator, you will be able to select the kind of messages that you want to receive directly from the police and other organisations as soon as they are issued. You will not have messages delayed because they need to be forwarded by another member or by the group coordinator. 2. Alternatively, if you have no access to a computer, you can contact me and I will ensure that you receive any information that I think you will find appropriate.

Welcome to Frisby-on-the-Wreake Flower & Garden Club Founded in 1961

We look forward to meeting you at one of the monthly meetings of our lovely friendly flower club. We meet in Frisby village hall. on the third Tuesday evening of the month at 7 for 7.30pm (excluding August) and attract members from a wide area including all the Wreake Valley villages and Melton. Members and visitors come to enjoy a mix of demonstrations, plant talks, garden visits and workshops. The flower arrangements produced by our professional demonstrators are raffled at the end of each meeting for just £1 a ticket!

Visitors are welcome at all meetings so, if you love flowers and plants, why not come along one evening and see for yourself. We serve refreshments when the meeting has finished which gives you a chance to chat and learn more about our club. Our Christmas meetings in particular are extremely popular. If you are new to the village it is a great way to get to know people and to help you settle into your new surroundings.

Frisby Players staged their first production in 1995. Since then we have presented forty; plays, reviews and children’s productions.

We have our own stage and scenery, and generally perform for three nights once a year, in Frisby Village Hall. In between productions, we read plays in members’ homes, and have fun social evenings together.

This is a small friendly group, drawing its members mainly from Frisby and surrounding villages. So if you’d like to act, join the technical team, paint scenery, stage manage, or help behind the Bar, phone or email;

The Home of Live Music in Frisby! FRISBY LIVE Six or seven times a year Frisby Live brings music of the highest professional standards to Frisby.

The concerts are organised by Frisby Live Musical Director and local musician, John Montague, who has been bringing live music to the village for over 20 years. Covering every genre of music from blues, rock, Americana, country, roots and rock & roll and even pop and jazz, there is always something for everyone.

A Spectacular Night of Entertainment! These unique and very special shows involve local, national and even international musicians of the very highest calibre. Some of these players are literally world class!

With a full stage and professional lighting, and breath-taking sound quality at low volume (yes, really!) these events are a hugely popular fixture in the Frisby Village calendar. Bookable table seating and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere makes this a truly great night out. Bring your own nibbles and drinks (people bring hampers!), and settle in for an evening of outstanding entertainment in the comfort of your own Village Hall. We really are incredibly lucky as a community to have such high quality music on our doorsteps!

Frisby Creatives

We are a group of artists and makers based in Frisby on the Wreake. We welcome people from the surrounding villages.

We are a mixed group and cover many disciplines including ceramics, glass, textile art, wood carving, printing and painting to name a few. We come together to socialise, share our knowledge and our interest in the arts.

We are quite a new group and have only been in existence for a year, we formed in January 2017.We had a busy first year, in September we held a very successful exhibition at The Bell Inn and opened 5 artist’s studios in the village and in December we held a Christmas selling event when we raised money for Cancer Research. We have lots of activities planned for 2018 including trips to exhibitions and opportunities to work together.

If you are interested in our group and would like to know more please contact Debbie Barber in Frisby on telephone no: 434348
