He was, until 30 September 2020, the longest-serving member of staff without interruption having worked at the international federation for 20 years. The goal is to reduce or offset emissions by at least 10% a year, promoting lasting change in personnel attitudes and the processes that generate high carbon consumption. An internal analysis of the carbon emissions generated by the office and at international events has been completed, resulting in a five-year action plan. Lmesinae’s story shows how blindness can impact on all aspects of life. Lmesinae’s family did not realise his blindness could be reversed, so they sent him to a school for children with disabilities. The school was a great distance from his village, so Lmesinae was separated from his friends and family. Now Lmesinae has had his sight restored and been reunited with his mother at home. He has dreams of becoming a teacher. Lmesinae’s life has changed forever, all due to a simple operation taking just 20 minutes and costing as little as $25 in some developing countries.
