MAY 2015 NJTV MOVES TO 2 GATEWAY CENTER IN NEWARK This month, NJTV moves into its new headquarters at 2 Gateway Center, centrally located in the heart of Newark, New Jersey’s largest city. The Agnes Varis NJTV Studio will be home to the network’s television anchor studio, the weeknight news program NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams and will house a community room.

“From this location at 2 Gateway, we can directly interact with the public we serve, as thousands of passersby will be able to literally look into our operations and see our team at work,” said NJTV’s General Manager John Servidio. “We also look forward to welcoming viewers into our space for special events, from program tapings to community gatherings to educational sessions.”

Among its many benefits, 2 Gateway Center is connected to an enclosed pedestrian walkway leading to Newark Penn Station, where thousands of commuters access NJ Transit, PATH, Newark Subway, Light Rail, and Amtrak lines. It is along this walkway that NJTV will have its studio.

“We want to put the public back in public television and grow our news coverage,” said NJTV News Executive Producer Phil Alongi. “The move to this location, with its easy access and open glass front, is a great way to expand our visibility and community engagement with the network and the news program.” The first live NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams broadcast is expected to air on Monday, May 18. There will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 27 at 4:30pm to celebrate the move and the network’s bright future.

Further exciting news for the network: NJTV ROBERT PINSKY, EBONY BAILEY/NPR: MARIA MAZZIOTTI GILLIAN, MARK HILLRINGHOUSE: GRETA WILKINSON, RBR (RED BANK REGIONAL HIGH SCHO OL) productions were nominated for 11 New York Emmy Awards, including NJTV News, State of the Arts and Classroom Close-up, NJ. The winners will be announced on Saturday, May 2, 2015.
