Maharam is committed to developing products with reduced environmental impact and to optimizing materials and substances that could be harmful to human health. Through the constant assessment of product componentry and manufacturing processes, both existing products and those in develop- ment are engineered or re-engineered to reduce their impact on the environment.

Maharam is also committed to providing fact-based information to our clients and we have adopted a rigorous vocabulary articulating the environmental characteristics of our products. The term “Reduced Environmental Impact” is applied only to products with measurable, documented reductions and detailed environmental attributes are provided for each product at maharam.com. Maharam does not make claims that could misrepresent the environmental attributes of its products.

Due to our rigorous approach to product design and our commitment to optimizing finishes and chemical inputs, Maharam offers a growing list of products that meet the goals set forth by the Health Care Without Harm’s Healthy Interiors criteria, v2.3.* The products listed below avoid the use of antimicrobials, formaldehyde, (PVC), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and flame retardant chemicals. Many of Maharam’s other can also be ordered for low minimums without any of the chemicals of concern.
