all of us are very much looking forward to the match.

Under current circumstances, yes it is a little more complicated in terms of actually getting the game on, but also in relation to what we can provide for the fans attending the game. We are confident in our arrangements though and can’t wait to get fans back through the turnstiles and for Eynsham Park to host a competitive game of football. Here’s hoping for a safe and record breaking evening.

On behalf of the Board of Direc- tors, I thank you for your contin- ued support of NLFC in what has been a testing and complicated year. A football club at any level is nothing without its supporters, we fully appreciate that.

This was first achieved back in 2016 under then manager John Brough. The 2016/17 season, arguably the most successful to date, saw record per- formances in the FA Cup, FA trophy, Southern League and was topped off by winning the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

The journey to the First Round saw the Millers defeat Bridgwater Town, Yate Town, Fole- stone Invicta and Kingstonian. Founded way back in 1908, North Leigh FC are now going into their 111th year and we are aiming to make it our most successful yet.

It has was only following the Second World War that the club began to make it’s mark with the first notable achievement in the clubs history coming in the 1950’s. Their dominance at step 13 of the football pyramid saw them named Witney and District Premier Division Champions in 7 seasons during the decade.

The Millers were made to wait until the 80’s until they’d get a chance to lift the title but once again they showed their quality being crowned Premier Division champions in 1985 and then for five successive sea- sons between 1985 and 1990 where they earned a place in the Hellenic Leagues.

Success continued to follow North Leigh with back to back 4th placed finishes in their first two seasons in the Hellenic League Division One before gowing on to finish 2nd the following year and earn promotion to the Premier Division as runners up to Tuffley Rovers.

It took a couple of years for the team to adjust to the step up in competition but the Millers were managing to consistently finish in the top half over their 15 year stint in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

They were crowned champions in 2002 and 2003 but stadium and pitch requirements held the team back from promotion.

Years of league dominance from Almondsbury were finally ended during the clubs centenery year in 2008 where the title race went down to the final day of the season in which the Millers would be crowned cham- pions for a 3rd and final time on goal difference before being accepted into Southern League after finally meeting league requirements and their non-league journey began.

Eleven years of Southern League football have certainly had their ups and downs for the club with financial requirements becoming a much larger factor in the continuation of the club.

Remarkebly the side managed top half finishes in all of the first nine seasons and winning the Oxfordshire Snior Cup for a 2nd and 3rd time and cementing their status and the largest club in West Oxfordshire. This included three 6th placed finishes in 2011, 2012 and 2017 narrowly missing out on the playoff spots by under 4 points on each occasion.

The 2016/17 season under Manager John Brough was arguably the most successful season in the clubs history with a rcord 6th placed finish in the Southern League Division One South & West, missing out on a playoff spot by just five points.

The year also saw the Millers lift the Oxfordshire Senior Cup for a 3rd time beating both Oxford City and Oxford United along the way. Record performances were also set in the FA Cup where they reached the 4th Qualifying Round losing out to Eastleigh and the 1st Round Proper in the FA Trophy.

North Leigh Football Club is a members-owned football club that is run by the Club Committee through its annually elected Club Officers constituting the Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary.

COACHING STAFF

Craig Dore (Manager): Played for Oxford United and Oxford City during his onfield careers. Before joining the Millers at the start of the 18/19 season he coached various youth teams at Oxford City. In his inaugral season of mens football management, he guided North Leigh to Southern League survival on the final day of the season with the 'Great Escape'. Last season he guided the Millers to a vastly more comfortable mid-table position, pushing towards the before the season was curtailed.

Michael Alexis (Coach): Returned to the Millers at the start of last season in a role that has developed into a player/coach arrangement. Has vast experience having played originally with Oxford United, Forest Green Rovers and Burton Albion, but has gone on to enjoy a lengthy career in non-League football with the likes of Slough Town, Abingdon United and Marlow. Can be seen on a match-day taking charge of the warm up’s and issuing instructions from the technical area.

Eddie Odhiambo (Coach): Joins the club from Banbury in a player/coach role for the 2020/21 season. He is good friends with fellow coach Michael Alexis, having played together throughout their childhood. Eddie is determined to build a great atmos- phere and winning environment within the club.

John McDonough (Physio): “Macca” has been with the club for that many years that nobody actually knows how long. He keeps himself in shape playing regularly for, and organising, the North Leigh Veterans team. He’s great experience in his field and is an integral part of the coaching setup at the club.

GOALKEEPERs

Adam North: Although he is only 19-years-old, Adam joined the Millers with a huge variety of experience already. He started his career in the Northampton Town academy, but has experience at this level having played for AFC Rushden & Diamonds at 17. He then joined Bodens BK in 2018, playing in the Swedish football pyramid. Prooved himself to be a fine shot stoper last season and has made the position his own.

DEFENDERS

Ben Brown: Rejoined the club in 2018 after leaving in the 2013/14 season. He is solid at the back and calm under pressure, his experience was essential in our unbeaten run to survive when times get tough at the end of the 18/19 season. Found playing opportunities curtailed due to injury last season, he’ll be looking for more pitch time this season.

Adam Learoyd: After helping Oxford City win promotion to the National League South in 2012, Adam moved to Didcot Town and has spent 5 seasons with the Diddy making over 250 appearances and captaining the side to the playoffs in 2018. Following his first season at the club, the experienced centre back has already made himself a firm fans favourite.

Scott Isherwood: Former development Squad defender for Bristol Rovers FC, he joined on a youth loan deal in order to get first-team football last season. Has since shown himself to be a very solid defender with great athleticism and composure for his age. Loves to get forward and has already scored and notched assists since joining.

Luke Carnell: Experienced defender Luke Carnell signs for the Millers from local rivals Didcot Town. The right-footed centre back will be going into his 12th year in the Southern League bringing with him an unbelievable amount of experience. Luke will no doubt hit the ground running partnering up alongside old former team-mate and fellow centre-back Adam Learoyd having spent nearly half a decade playing together.

Josias Carbon: He came through the youth system at Oxford United before going on to play for Oxford City and a host of other clubs in the county. Is best deployed as a wing back and has a great engine to get up and down the flank. Loves to cut inside from the wing to deliver a cross or shot.

Cameron McNeill: The defender has been a consistent part of Didcot’s back line for the last three seasons, being named their Manager’s Player of the Year at the end of the 2018/19 campaign. He’ll be looking to rekindle a strong partnership at the back with former Didcot teammates Learoyd and Carnell.

20 WWW.NORTHLEIGHFC.CO.UK Manager/Player Profiles

MIDFIELDERS

Mike Atkinson: Belize International and UKAF midfield maestro Mike Atkinson has re-signed for another season with the Millers. To date, he has earned nine caps for the Belize National Team. Before choosing a career in the military, Mike’s footballing talent earned him a professional contract with League Two side York City. He’s a powerhouse in midfield, fantastic at breaking up play and adept at picking a pass.

Ben Barrett: The youngster is no stranger to North Leigh or manager Craig Dore for that matter. Ben was part of Oxford City U18's league and cup double winning season in 2017, under then manager Dore, before he signed a professional contract with City's senior squad. He then joined the Millers for a short-term loan spell during the 2018/19 season, the diminutive midfielder returns permanently this season.

Harry Grant: The heart of the midfield this tough tackling box-to-box midfielder has proved invaluable in motivating squad when times got tough. With previous stints at Sheff Weds and Gillingham, Harry was signed from Reading City. In 2018 he played in the FA Vase final at Wembley. Harry won last years fan’s player of the season award.

Elliott Heritage: The ex-Oxford City youngster signed for the Millers earlier in the year in March, but the opportunity to make his debut was taken away when the season was cut short. During the day he is a very skilled hairdresser at the Blunt Rabbit in Witney.

Callum McNish: Part of the clubs most successful season in 2016/17, Callum returned last season after a stint at Division One rivals Didcot Town. A powerful Midfielder with a slick passing game and a great desire to be on the winning side. He is the cre- ative part of the midfield with the ability to read the opposing defence in order to deliver defence-splitting passes to the strikers.

George Nash: Nash is a 28-year-old defensive midfielder and a key signing ahead of the 20/21 campaign. He will be a pivotal link between the front and back lines and tasked with getting on the ball at every opportunity to get the team passing and moving forward. Another player to join the Millers from Didcot, but also has experience at Banbury and Worcester City.

Morgan Williams: A North Leigh legend who re-signed for the 2019/20 season following a couple of years away. A strong running left sided attacking midfielder player who has the ability to be a match winner from out of nowhere. Loves a free kick and is equally adept between the posts if required.

Aaron Woodley: Aaron is set to start his 6th season at Eynsham Park this season. With his eye for goal looking sharper than ever, he will undoubtedly be making a few headlines throughout the season and will be a great asset to this strong side. Posesses well-honed ball control, great technical skills and the ability to create chances; never neglects his defensive duties as well.

FORWARDS

John Mills: 30-year-old striker Mills is no stranger to Millers fans, bursting onto the scene in 2011 from Abingdon United and playing two full seasons under then manager Mark Gee. Mills racked up an impressive 39 goals in 90 games for the Millers and the 2012/13 golden boot before earning a move to fellow Oxfordshire-side Didcot Town. Returns to the club following seasons with Hereford, Bath City and Banbury United. He is sure to add firepower up top.

Anaclet Odhiambo: Re-joins the club for the 20/21 season alongside his brother Eddie. A proven goal scorer at this level and brings with him great experience and knowledge of the game.

George Seacole: Adored fan favourite George is a real goal scoring talent and signs on for his seveth straight season in yellow and black. The natural poacher has racked up a phenomenal 89 goals in 199 league and cup appearances. Fingers crossed we will be seeing plenty more goals, and seagull celebrations, this coming season.

Lance Williams: Returned to Eynsham Park from local rivals Didcot Town, talented midfielder Lance has shown his abilities in previous seasons with the Millers. Another of the 2016/17 season squad, he helped lift the Oxfordshire Senior Cup and set records in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy. He is excellent on the ball and has immense aerial presence.

WWW.NORTHLEIGHFC.CO.UK 25 Lockdown Lowdown

George Seacole

"Lockdown sort of came at a good time for me as I jut tweaked my hamstring against wantage so for the first 2 weeks of lockdown I hadn’t really done much. But the last week I have just got back run- ning trying to get ready for the restart as it will be straight into busi- ness as the games come thick and fast. And of course I'm still trying to finish painting my room which I started in the first lockdown."

Harry Grant

"Lockdown 2.0 has been far easier for me as I’ve been working throughout it and kept a good routine of fitness and running - I know the other lads have been keeping on top of there fitness levels too so I’m sure that will hold us in good stead for the up and coming busy festive period. I’m sure we can hit the ground running and climb up the table."

Adam Learoyd

"Buzzing to be back and confident we can kick on from the last result. Spending a lot of quality time with the family and ticking over with the lads, by doing a couple of Zoom fitness sessions and a few per- sonal 5Ks. Always look forward to the festive period and more so as they’re against our local rivals."

Ben Brown

"Really can’t wait to get back playing again. As nice as it has been spending more time on the weekends with the family there aren’t many better feelings than winning a football match. We have done a few fitness sessions over video calls and have been sending our 5k runs into the group chat so trying to keep ticking along. It’s going to be difficult to get straight back up to match speed but it’s the same for everyone and every team. For me personally it’s been frustrating as I just started to feel fit again, but obviously the most important thing is for everyone to be and remain safe! The matches over Christmas and New Years are always good against the other local teams, will be good for the club to get one over on all of them."

26 WWW.NORTHLEIGHFC.CO.UK WWW.NORTHLEIGHFC.CO.UK 27 Legends Charity Match ver 250 fans gathered for September's Legends Charity OMatch helping to raise over two thousand pound for the NHS.

Millers' former manager Mark Gee came out of retirement to take charge of his 915th game at Eynsham Park to face off against Peter Foley's Oxford United Legends side.

Like so many times before, Gee watched as North Leigh won 3-1 against United but the real winner on the day was the local community. In total over £2,000 has been raised for the Oxford Hospitals Charity.

"It took quite a lot of organisation to get the event planned and there were a few times we worried it might not go ahead at all with the lo- cal lockdown restrictions but I am just delighted with how it all went" said club general manager Mark Bosley.

"I want to thank all of the ex-players for making the time to take part in the match and the fans for coming down and help raise over two thou- sand pound for such a good cause".

Morgs becomes only our 3rd player to make his 250th appearance in North Leigh’s Southern League era, the other two being Millers Legends Stuart Hole and Michael Hopkins. There is very little of our recent milestones that he hasn’t been a part of winning two Senior Cup’s and being a part of both our FA Cup and FA Trophy record runs and two sixth placed league finishes.
