Rugby world cup Fan Zone 2015 Sportsfest at Twenty Year 8 students attended the Rugby world cup Fan Zone in Birmingham in September. Students Wolverhampton took part in many activities. They were given opportunities to experience all the different skills in Rugby in a safe and fun way such University as tackling and passing. The trip was part of the promotion for the Rugby World cup and Phoenix took some Year 8 students from PE as a reward.

Basketball u16’s Our under 16 team played back to back games of basketball (4 quarters of x 7mins = 28 mins) against St Michael’s and George Salters in October. Although they were up in both games at the end of the third quarter they lost both games by 4 points. 31-35 and 28-32. George Salters beat Phoenix for the league last year to be the best team in Sandwell and they have their own basketball academy which is the sole role of their coach in the school. St Michael’s 9-7. Both teams came 2nd in the North and South of the borough. Effectively coming 3rd out of 12 teams. Netball U 16 is all students under this age and U14 Year 7, 8 and 9.

They played St Michael’s in the final with some good performances but lost. Well done to Arun Rana, Tarandeep Dhanda, Shamsher Singh, Owen Carter and Daniel Patel!
