this guide contains potentially triggering content related to violence committed by far right groups and images of far right groups what does the far right mean?

When we say the far right, we mean anyone who holds violent ideas and beliefs rooted in racism, transpho- bia, white supremacy, ableism, and other oppressive value systems.

A person in the far right could be a nazi, a fascist, a member of a white supremacist prison gang, a person who wears a MAGA hat and wants to build the wall, or any person who thinks its okay to hurt someone based on their social identity like race or gender.

There are many people who make up the far right and all of them are capable of being very dangerous.

In the past years, we know Portland has experienced a lot of far right groups openly coming into town and at- tacking and assaulting residents. We know as a result, a number of queer and trans people, particularly youth, have experienced violent and targetted assaults as a direct re- sult of these public events.

In this guide we are going to talk briefly about what we know has been happenning in Portland, recognizing and identifying different violent groups, and some safety plan- ning and startegies.

This guide is for youth who feel vulnerable to violence from these groups or individuals living in the Portland area.
