YOU’LL USE YOUR VOTE TO DECIDE WHO REPRESENTS YOU AND YOUR PART OF WALES IN THE WELSH YOUTH PARLIAMENT.

Wales is broken down into 40 smaller areas called constituencies. A constituency is the area where you live, work or get your education.

This constituency is your part of Wales. When you vote, you’re choosing the one person you want to represent you and your area.

We split our constituencies into four regions of Wales. The Welsh Youth Parliament Members you choose will work and meet together regularly in these regions: NORTH WALES: MID WALES:

YOU’LL ELECT 40 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER WALES – ONE YOUNG PERSON FOR EACH CONSTITUENCY IN WALES.

But, that’s only 40 young people – and the Welsh Youth Parliament will have 60 Members. So, where do the other 20 come from?

We’ll work with a range of partner organisations who’ll return the remaining 20 Welsh Youth Parliament Members. Putting our parliament together this way will make sure we have representation from diverse groups of young people.

All 60 Welsh Youth Parliament Members will have equal status with the same roles and responsibilities. HOW CAN I VOTE?

YOUR VOICE IS POWERFUL, MAKE SURE IT CAN BE HEARD.

Before you can vote for your Welsh Youth Parliament Member, you’ll need to register to vote and registering to vote is easy!

You can register any time from 28 May 2018 until 16 November 2018.

You’ll need to give us:

◆◆ Your name ◆◆ Your post code (home or school) ◆◆ Your email address ◆◆ Your date of birth Registering will take less than five minutes and it’s really important you make sure the information you give us is correct. If it’s not, it could mean you miss out on your chance to vote.

Once you submit the form, you’ll be sent an email to confirm that you’re registered to vote. To register, visit www.youthparliament.wales. HOW DO I USE MY VOTE?

YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT – AND YOU ONLY HAVE ONE, SO USE IT WISELY!

You’ll have three weeks to decide who you want to vote for. You can vote any time between 05 – 25 November, 2018.

If you have registered to vote, you will receive an e-mail on 5 November with instructions on how to vote. You can also visit www.youthparliament.wales to see who you can vote for in your constituency.

Each constituency will have more than one person standing for election, so you’ll need to read their biographies and decide which one you think represents how you think and feel about the issues you care about.

The young person with the most votes will represent you and your constituency for a two-year term.
