Redland Court 4 5 Reimagined A rich and fascinating history

Since Elizabethan times there has been a Manor House in this location. Acknowledged as ‘a fine example of the architecture of its time’ Redland Court is an important landmark in Bristol. Built between 1732 and 1735 by John and Martha Cossins, it is a Grade II* listed building and the jewel in the crown of this development.

In its lifetime this iconic Manor House has been a country gentlemen’s residence and from 1884 - 2016 Redland High School for Girls, one of the first in Bristol.

Many of the buildings that have been added during the life time of the School have an historic significance; the Old School Hall and Library dates back to 1906 and has original period details that have been meticulously retained and restored. The Science Wing which dates from the 1930-1950s, forms the structure for seventeen stunning apartments.

It is the preservation of this history that guides Juniper Homes throughout this project.

Redland Court 8 9 Reimagined Let’s get closer to home

When John Cossins built Redland Court he had aspirations of being a country gentlemen. Redland was a ‘country mile’ from the City of Bristol – and in those days one mile was a long way.

Today the City is on your doorstep which is why living in Redland is so special. Sitting in the colloquially named ‘Golden Triangle’ which includes Cotham and Clifton, Redland is also bordered by Bishopston. Being surrounded by such interesting and gregarious areas is Redland’s very good fortune.

Handy for the local parks and 400 acres of open green spaces at Durdham Downs, Redland and its neighbours Cotham and Bishopston are home to many independent and innovative retailers, cafés, pubs and restaurants, all conveniently close to Redland Court.

For travelling further afield - Redland Station is a 4-minute walk away so approx .2 of a mile, with frequent connections to Bristol’s main Temple Meads.
