For any errors or inadequacies that may remain in this work, of course, the responsibility is entirely my own. 5 Abstract In the past, the main focus of migration studies was the investigation of influences of immigrants on the host society and their integration into the country of settlement. However, transnationalism studies currently place much greater emphasis upon the other side – which is the effect of living in diaspora, in the society of origin with trans-border citizenship. The cultural, social and political interactions and connections between Sweden as a country of settlement and Kurdistan (especially Iraqi Kurdistan), create a transnational social space where the members of the Kurdish elite can play a major role in improvement of Kurdistan. From here, their adoption of a double identity makes it possible for them to permanently define and redefine their position in Swedish society while simultaneously participating in the inherent development of Kurdistan. The merging of the members of the Kurdish elite’s discourse in rebuilding of democracy and development with regard to reconstruction, leads to more focus on the role of diaspora and understanding the Swedish Kurdish elite’s impact on “functionalizing” and major contribution in the current state of Kurdistan. The ways of expression, increasing academic value, multicultural behavior, and the elite’s activities in civil society organization in between two or several states, their appearance in the international scene, experiences of living in both host / home societies, and multi-relations in a diasporic context continuing and re-adjusting national identities are essential indications of trans-border identity formation of Kurdish diaspora. After the liberation of Kurdistan (northern Iraq 2003), members of the Kurdish elite experienced transnationalism mainly through transferring

Agreement in Principle Mr KEVIN GREENE (Oatley—Minister for Gaming and Racing, and Minister for Sport and Recreation) [10.05 a.m.]: I move: That this bill be now agreed to in principle. In summary, the NSW Lotteries (Authorised Transaction) Bill has two main functions. The first is to authorise the transfer of NSW Lotteries to a new private operator, while at the same time retaining Government ownership of intellectual property presently owned by the business, including games and brands. The second function of the bill is to enable amendments to the regulatory regime to ensure that public lotteries continue to be operated in a manner that protects community interests and provides harm minimisation measures. The bill will allow taxpayer resources currently locked up in NSW Lotteries to be redirected to community priorities such as health, education and roads. The bill will ensure that net proceeds from this transaction will be transferred directly to the Consolidated Fund, to support the Government's ongoing commitment to important social infrastructure. It is important to note that the Government will continue to receive duties on the sale of lottery products. In the last financial year these levies were more than $300 million, which were allocated to core social infrastructure and front-line services.

    Swedish Emigration to America and Oregon after World War II L a r s N o r d s t r o m wedish emigration to the United States following World War II is not a widely studied subject, perhaps for the simple reason that it involves a relatively small number of individuals, and perhapsS also because, in comparison to the foreign immigration to Sweden during the last couple of decades, this group is small indeed. If we want to understand the two distinct communities that have emerged in the United States during the last thirty years or so— the Swedish-American community and the scattered groups of utlandssvenskar (expatriate Swedes)— it is helpful to take a broad look at the main currents in modem Swedish emigration. Relying on various statistical sources and earlier research, this article surveys the general character of Swedish emigration following the end of World War II and attempts to answer the following ques­ tions: Where have Swedes emigrated to during this period? How many individuals make up this migratory- flow? What is really meant by the temi “a Swedish emigrant”? How reliable are official statistics in describing the fluid patterns of individuals moving from one coun­ try- to another? What are the proportions between Swedes and Swed- ish-Americans in the state of Oregon today, and what is the size of Swedish immigration compared to other immigrant groups? The second part looks into the main causes behind modem .Swedish emigration to the United States. Perhaps a bit surprisingly, it finds that today it seems just as common to emigrate because one has LARS NORDSTROM is a freelance writer, translator, historian of the Swedes in Oregon, and grower of grapes.

The most Iraqi people become refugees or displaced to other governors. The study aims to Psychological Disorders among Babylon Refugees at ISIS Era and determine the relationship between symptoms of them with the demographic characteristic’s refugees. A descriptive-analytic study was conducted with refugees who residence in Babylon from different Iraqi governorates. A purposive (Non-probability) sample of (100) refugees. The study results revealed highly anxiety and depression symptoms among refugees about (53% & 72% respected) and there is a significant relationship between psychological symptoms to depression and anxiety with age and gender of refugees. The study concluded most of the immigrants are having severe symptoms of psychological problems and increased may due to the shortage in the needs of life and income and changes in social life so, the study recommended for early detection about psychological problems and support them.

    Kurdistan’s Attempted Secession from Iraq Kurdistan’s Attempted Secession from Iraq: Major Powers’ Responses and Regional Implications Khurram Abbas* Abstract Through legal and political means, the Kurdish referendum has created a de facto state in the north of Iraq. This development will have short and long-term impacts on security of the Middle East in general, and Iraq in particular. The paper explores various dimensions of the secession attempt by the Kurdistan Regional Government. It concludes that the independence of Kurds from Iraq is likely to destabilise the Middle East; and encourage other ethnic communities to attempt secession. On the other hand, various extra-regional actors may also try to capitalise on the vacuum to advance their interests in the region. Keywords: Secessionism, Middle East, Ethnic Divisions, Iraq, Kurds. Exploring a number of issues relating to the dynamic tensions between religious globalization processes and specific sacred localities, this book looks at the formation of Sufi movements that have migrated from their place of origin to become global religious networks. Sufi groups are highly differentiated and often inaccessible, so the origins and development of Sufism in the West have not been widely studied.
