PARISH LIFE CAFOD Emergency Collection: There will be a retiring collection for CAFOD this weekend 01/02 February in response to the emergency crisis brought on especially by severe drought in Zambia and Zimbabwe. There is a food crisis which affects more than 7.7 million people , over half the population. Help support the worst affected communities. Thank you.

First Holy Communion: The Penitential Rite Service, will take place next Saturday 8th February at 3pm at St Helen. All FHC candidates and parents are expected to attend the lessons and sessions followed by Mass at 5.30pm.

Fr Emile Leave; Fr Emile will be away for some much needed rest and recuperation from Monday 10th Feb to Mon 24th Feb. There will be Liturgy of the Word sessions during the week. Fr Joe Farrell will provide Mass services on Saturday 15th and 22nd February. Fr Michael Halsall will cover Sunday 16th and 23rd February. We wish Fr Emile a safe time.

Ongar Churches Together: Musical Evening– as part of the Ongar Churches Together, we, St. Helen’s Church are holding a Musical Evening on Saturday, 29th February at the URC’s Livingstone Hall (opposite the Fire Station) at 7.30pm. The evening will include a live performance from the very professional singing duo of Cantando (Graham and Marcia) who have previously performed at St. Helen’s Church as well as at other notable local events. There will be a lively sing-a-long session from James and Jim who regularly sing together as part of a band that performs in the Chelmsford area. And we are also pleased to have the very artistic Fyfield Hand Bell Ringers, a small group of talented ladies who have played together for many years and who have performed in many local events. To purchase tickets, which cost £8.00 each, and for further information, please contact Adrian on 375725 or the Parish Office on 362645. Please bring your own drinks, glasses and nibbles. The Annual Lourdes Mass will be celebrated at Brentwood Cathedral on Sunday 16 February at 3 pm. This is an opportunity to give thanks for graces received in Lourdes and to seek prayers for the sick.
