NOTIFICATION G.S.R./Zeg (E).- In exercise of the powers Conferred by section 87 of the Punjab Re-organisation Act, 1966 (31 of 1966), the Central Government. hereby extends to the Union territory of Chandigarh, the enactments specified in column (1) of the Schedule hereto annexed, subject to the modifications specified in the corresponding entries in column (2) of the said s.dhedule.

An Act to amend the East Punjab War Awards Act, 1948.

BE it enacted by the. Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Eighteenth Year of the Republic .follows:- of India as

--Short 1* This Act may be called-the East Punjab War Awards tItIe-- (Amendment) Act, 1967. Amendment 2e In. section 2 of the East Punjab War Awards Act, of section 1948 as in force in the Union terriory-of Chandigarh 2 of Punjab -.(hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) Act 22 of clause (a),- in - 1948. (i)in sub-claUee (i), for the words "three Or more persons", the Words "three or more children" shall be substituted;

(ii)in sub-clause (ia)1 for the words "only son serving or who has served", the words only son Or only child who is derving or who has. served" shall be substituted; (iii) after subeclause.(ia), the folloWing clause shall be inserted, namely :-

"(ib) A citizeh of India ordinarily residing in the Union territory of Chandigarh., who is tho'father or where the father is dead, the- mother of only.two - children both of whom are serving or have served in the armed forces of the Union during the emergency declared by the'Preeident of- India under Article 352 of- the ' Constitution of India on the 26th October,- 1962, but does not include a person who has for such reasons elready.received eland grant or other award from GpvernMent, or";'

(iv)in sub-clause (WI for the word "persons" occurring between the words "three or more" and "-who having bean"., the word "children", shall be substituted.

(il) sub-,clause- of olaUse (a) of section 2.has more than three children who were enrolled and commissioned, and were liable to serve and have actually sery ;d3 in the manner. referred to in the said .sub7clause, an additional amount of tenrupeos per annum 'may be granted for every such child exceeding three:

PrOvided further that fgr the purposes of d.termining the eligibility . of a person to the grant of a'Wer Jagir under sub-clause W'of clause. (a) of section 2, no child of such person who has already made him eligible to the grant of a.War Jagir Under sub-clause (ii) of that clause shall b: taken into account-

(2) klfiar Jegir shall provide for assignment of .the appropriate sum or. for the grant of such sum payable annually charged on the whole or . 'part of the land.revenue arising from a specified area and the amount of War Jagir - shall. subject to such deductions on account. of collection of land revenue as the Government may direct, be payable notwithstanding that - .the-land revenue for the specified .area may have been suspended or remitted." 4. An Act to amend the East -Punjab War ,t',INTiCI3 Act, 1948.

BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- -

Short 14 This Act may be called the East Punjab War title. Awards (Amendment) Act, 1975. Amendment of section 2 of the East Punjab War Awards Act, section 2 1948 as in force in the Union territory of Chandigarh of East (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act), in. Punjab Act claUse (a), for sub-clauses (i),(ia) and -(ib), the 22 of 1948 following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:

B(i) a citizenof India, ordinarily residing in ,the State -of Punjab, who is the father, or where the father is dead, the mother, 'of- (a) only son or only child; or

'(p) only two sons, or only two c ildren; or (c)- three or more children,

who has O.r have, served or who is or are serving in the armed forcus Of the:o-Union during the emergency d.,,-,clared by the .
