The Society is the single nodal agency for planning, coordination, execution & monitoring of all Skill Development initiatives of Government of Maharashtra. Various Skill Development schemes of various departments of Government of Maharashtra are implemented through the active coordination under the single umbrella of this society. The schemes of Government of India are also being implemented by MSSDS. Incremental Human Resource Requirement across Sector As per the NSDC Skill Gap report for Maharashtra, the State will require 90,28,144 skilled manpower in various sectors who can contribute positively towards State’s growth. These do not have significant employment generation, but have scope for up-skilling. @ In unorganized sector, includes domestic workers, handloom and handicrafts, facility management, security guards and beauticians. Some sectors like Beauty & Wellness and furniture and fixtures have recently showed upward trend with huge manpower requirement. Demand for courses like Artificial Intelligence, drone technology, etc. are also coming up. 1 Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (Action Plan 2018-19) In order to achieve its stated mission, Maharashtra State Skill Development Society has planned to implement seven skill development schemes (centrally as well as state sponsored schemes). Pramod Mahajan Kaushalya ya Udyojkta Vikas Abhiyan (PMKUVA) PMKUVA is state’s flagship skill development scheme which was launched in September 2015. It is a comprehensive state mission aimed at skilling the candidates in the age group of 15 to 45 years and subsequently placing them in sustainable employment. This is an umbrella program of the state for skill trainings for all the departments of the state. Both short-term and long term duration courses are being offered by the training providers under this scheme. The course duration under the PMKUVA ranges from minimum 180 hours to maximum 1200 hours. The total budgeted outlay for PMKUVA for FY 2018-19 is INR 6000 lakhs and consequently the training target for the same is 30,000 students. Following is the expected training target, sector wise: Sl. National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) The Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojna (DAY) focuses on uplifting urban poor through skill development resulting in gainful employment. The scheme is an integration of the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) and National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM). As on 31st May 2018, 1,16,532 students have been trained under the scheme and further 55,376 students are undergoing training. The ratio of female trainees is higher in this scheme, approx. 72 percent of the trained students are female. The total budgeted outlay for NULM for FY 2018-19 is INR 17,000 lakhs and consequently the training target for the same is 85,000 students. Following is the expected training target, sector wise: Sl. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 2.0 The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna 2.0 is a Centrally Sponsored State Managed scheme (CSSM) which was awarded to MSSDS in August 2017. Under this scheme, trainings will be provided in sectors including Agriculture, Apparel, Made-ups
