Buffalo Sabres Daily Press Clips December 20, 2014 Avalanche-Sabres Preview By Jeff Mezydlo Associated Press December 19, 2014 Though the Buffalo Sabres' longest winning streak of the season has ended, their confidence remains high. Eagerly looking to get back on track, the Sabres try to end their struggles against the visiting Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. Buffalo (13-17-2) totaled 14 goals during a four-game winning streak but showed little offensive punch in Tuesday's 5-1 loss at Winnipeg. "You never like to lose but it's almost a reminder that you have to be at your best, have to be sharp," said defenseman Josh Gorges, who hopes to return Saturday after missing the last two games with an apparent finger injury. "We'll be ready for the next one." The defeat was only the fourth in 14 games for the Sabres, who believe it's just a blip on the screen. "Confidence is a major thing in sports, and in general," forward Patrick Kaleta said. "Confidence is big for us. The older guys have to put it in the minds of the younger guys that it's just a speed bump and everything is all right. "You come together as a team and you don't dwell on it. Learn from the game, move on and get better." The Sabres need to shore up defensively after allowing 15 goals in four games and at least three for the sixth time in the last seven. Nikita Zadorov's power-play goal late in the first period opened the scoring, but was all Buffalo could muster on 28 shots.

  • Chicago Wolves Game Notes ROCKFORD at CHICAGO NOVEMBER 10, 2018 7 P.M
2018-19 Chicago Wolves Game Notes ROCKFORD AT CHICAGO NOVEMBER 10, 2018 7 p.m. CW50 THE GREATEST RIVALRY IN SPORTS 2018-19 Go ahead. Think of the most-ballyhooed rivalries in sports. Bears vs. Packers. Red Sox vs. Yankees. TALE OF THE TAPE Cubs vs. Cardinals. Ohio State vs. Michigan. All of them pale in comparison to the Chicago Wolves vs. the Rockford IceHogs. Since the day this rivalry began on Oct. 19, 2007 -- when the Wolves defeated REGULAR-SEASON SERIES 0-0-0-0 Rockford | 0-0-0-0 Chicago the IceHogs and goaltender Corey Crawford 5-4 in overtime at Allstate Arena -- these franchises have LAST MEETING been dead-even. April 22, 2018 Today marks the 125th regular-season meeting between these teams. The Wolves have won 62 times and the IceHogs have won 62 times, though it’s not quite that close in goals (the Wolves have outscored the IceHogs 387-352). But this rivalry is more than just evenly matched. Because these teams are located just 70 miles apart and they play 12 times per year., there are plenty of opportunities to build 7-4-1-2 8-3-0-1 up a healthy amount of disdain for the other side. LEADING SCORERS ROCKFORD CHICAGO FOUR ON THE FLOOR FOR CARR Skater G A Pts Skater G A Pts Wolves left wing Daniel Carr became the first AHL player in nearly nine months to score four goals in Raddysh 3 8 11 Macek 12 7 19 a game when he stacked up four on Wednesday at Milwaukee.

2017-18 !!!!!CHICAGO!WOLVES ! GAME!NOTES CHICAGO at GRAND RAPIDS OCTOBER 27, 2017 6 p.m. THE U TOO 2017-18 FAMILIAR!FACES!IN!ENEMY!PLACES TALE!OF!THE!TAPE When forward Teemu Pulkkinen steps onto the ice tonight, he will be playing against a slew of 2016-17 REGULAR-SEASON SERIES familiar faces in a familiar arena. However, after spending two full seasons and earning a Calder Cup 8-2-0-0 Grand Rapids | 2-5-3-0 Chicago with the Grand Rapids Griffins, Pulkkinen comes to Van Andel Arena as the enemy. This isn’t the first time the 25-year-old has faced the Griffins in different colors. During the 2016-17 campaign, Pulkkinen LAST MEETING was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Wild. Of the 47 games he skated in with the Iowa Wild — May 13, 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs Minnesota’s AHL affiliate — eight of those contests were against Grand Rapids. Additionally, he made his Wild debut against Grand Rapids. VAN!REPAIR 2-4-0-1 2-3-1-0 The Wolves have struggled at Van Andel Arena over the last five seasons and have a 7-8-3-0 record to show for it. While that record is better than they fare in their own building — Allstate Arena (6-10-2-0) — 2016-17 SERIES LEADERBOARD against Grand Rapids, there is still plenty of room for improvement. Chicago especially struggled last season, earning just a single win at The Van in five regular-season games. While the Wolves received GRAND!RAPIDS CHICAGO the raw end of the deal, three of those contests were one-goal contests and two went to overtime.
