Caroline Carnegie Caroline is a partner at law firm K&L Gates, and Director & Company Secretary practices in the areas of M&A, commercial contract negotiation and transaction advice. Caroline also has a sports law practice and has represented a number of sporting organisations including Melbourne Rebels, Melbourne Renegades, North Melbourne Football Club, Tennis Australia and Netball Australia. She is currently a member of ANZSLA, and a director elect for the Lifechanger Foundation. Directors have been in office since the start of the financial year to the date of this report unless stated otherwise. Company secretary Ms Caroline Carnegie was the company secretary for the year ended 30 June 2019 and up to the date of this financial report. Refer to the “Information on Directors” section of this Director’s Report, for information regarding Caroline’s skills and experience. Principal activities The principal activity of the Group during the financial year was competing as a member of the A- League, W-League, National Youth League (all conducted by the FFA), and National Premier League (conducted by the FFV) competitions. No significant changes in the nature of the Group’s activities occurred during the financial year. Operating results The loss of the Group, after providing for income tax, amounted to $1,328,833 (2018: $442,582 profit). Significant changes in state of affairs There have been no significant changes in the state of affairs of the Group during the year. Matters or circumstances arising after the end of the year On 27 August 2019, the Maribyrnong City Council deferred its final decision on the Footscray Park master plan until 17 December 2019. Footscray Park is the proposed site for the community football facilities being developed by Melbourne Victory FC Academy Limited. No other matters or circumstances have arisen since the end of the financial year which significantly affected or could significantly affect the operations of the Group, the results of those operations or the state of affairs of the Group in future financial years. Future developments and results Any likely developments in the operations of the Group and the expected results of those operations in future financial years have not been included in this report as the inclusion of such information is likely to result in unreasonable prejudice to the Group. Environmental matters The Group’s operations are not regulated by any significant environmental regulations under a law of the Commonwealth or of a state or territory. THE DEVASTATING GLOBAL IMPACT IS BEING FELT SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY, ACCOMPANIED BY UNCERTAINTY FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. AUSTRALIA, VICTORIA AND FOOTBALL ARE NOT IMMUNE AND HAVE ALSO BEEN MATERIALLY AFFECTED. Football Victoria (FV) and Football Federation Australia Our FV Club Ambassadors are working every week (FFA) have taken decisive action to temporarily suspend directly with each club to solve problems and implement the 2020 season. This is to restrict the spread of the virus the FV Club Engagement Program (CEP) which is amongst our 355 clubs throughout Victoria and protect now being deployed nationally by the FFA.     Brunswick Zebras FC Annual Report 2018 Season 2018 President’s Report 2018 2018 has been another successful year. This is an election year and it is important that the members of the club renew the Club Committee so we can meet the challenges ahead. I would like to thank our club sponsors: L’Unico coffee, Stomping Ground, and Ausnet have supported the club and ensured we had decent coffee and beer at club events. I would also like to thank Melbourne Victory and their support, which has given our kids a chance to taste and participate in the big games We appreciate all the support that all our sponsors provide. We are always after more sponsors big and small to support our club. Over the last few years as a Club, we have invested time and money into our facilities and grounds with the support of Moreland Council. As a result, we have continued to realise real improvements. We have renovated the change rooms at Balfe and built a new kitchen, new lights have been installed at Sumner Park funded by the State Government, and new goal posts and coaches’ boxes have installed. These improvements should continue with the new committee. The next major endeavour we believe is necessary is the construction of new change rooms and an upgrade of our pavilion at Sumner Park. We are master planning the improved facility with the assistance of Isabel Legge, who is both an architect and one of our women team’s coaches. We are going to try to fund the renovation with financial support from Local and State Government, our own resources and possibly a contribution from a private donor.
