BLACKALL-TAMBO Why we exist: DIAMANTINA BARCOO

The challenges confronting Western MURWEH QUILPIE Queensland councils and communities MARANOA are typically more extreme than BRISBANE other parts of Queensland due to BULLOO PAROO remoteness (vast distances); declining BALONNE populations; social disadvantage; workforce attraction and retention issues; inadequate infrastructure; and funding challenges.

By combining forces, the WQAC is able to attract greater public attention and leverage our advocacy power due to our larger representative base. It provides an opportunity to highlight, explain and advocate for dedicated funding support and ‘place based’ policy responses for Western Queensland communities. It also provides an opportunity to showcase Western Queensland and how much we contribute to the prosperity of communities across Queensland, and further, the nation.
