Kesha Offers Up a 'Hymn' For the Hymnless August 3rd — Anticipation continues to build for Kesha's new album 'Rainbow' with the release of "Hymn," a song dedicated to dreamers and outsiders everywhere. Following "Praying," "Woman" and "Learn to Let Go," "Hymn" is the fourth advance track from 'Rainbow,' out August 11th on Kemosabe Records/RCA Records. Pre-order and download links below. Listen to "Hymn" here: http://smarturl.it/pvHymn Kesha intends for "Hymn" to connect with the fans, many of whom have reached out to share personal stories of how her music had encouraged and helped them navigate through difficult times in their lives. "This is a hymn for the hymnless, kids with no religion," Kesha sings over the sparkling, otherworldly production of Ricky Reed and Jonny Price. Kesha wrote on the song with her producers, Cara Salimando and her mother, Pebe Sebert. "This song is dedicated to all the idealistic people around the world who refuse to turn their backs on progress, love, and equality whenever they are challenged," Kesha writes in an essay about "Hymn" that appears in Mic. "It's dedicated to the people who went out into the streets all over the world to protest against racism, hate, and division of any kind. It's also dedicated to anyone who feels like they are not understood by the world or respected for exactly who they are." Abstract Using Antoine Hennion’s “anti-musicology”, this research project proposes a methodology for studying music production that empowers production choices as the primary analytical tool. It employs this methodology to analyze Kesha’s Rainbow, Janelle Monáe’s Dirty Computer, and St. Vincent’s Masseduction according to four, encompassing groups of production elements: musical elements, lyrical elements, personal elements, and narrative elements. All three albums were critical and commercial successes, and analyzing their respective choices offers valuable insight into the practice of successful producers that could not necessarily be captured by methodologies traditionally used for studying production, such as the interview.

Walk With Me: Praying With Jesus Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.” This booklet is yours to keep and use as a guide for tonight’s reflection, and also for you to journal in when questions are posed. The format is: first you are given the kind of prayer we are focusing on in that section (Scripture, praise, etc.). Then you are given the Scripture verses that will be quoted for that theme so that you can refer to them in the future, if you wish. If there is a prayer that we will all pray together, you will be given that under the heading of “Prayer.” If a particular theme needs further directions you are given those at the appropriate time. Songs are also listed when needed, by the title and number which they can be found in our hymnals. There are also blank pages at the back should you need more room. EVERYTHING YOU WRITE WILL BE CONFIDENTIAL WE WILL NOT BE SHARING ANSWERS. OUR HOPE IS THAT THIS EVENING BECOMES A PERSONAL ENCOUNTER BETWEEN YOU AND GOD. • BOBBY CHARLES LYRICS Compiled by Robin Dunn & Chrissie Van Varik
BOBBY CHARLES LYRICS Compiled by Robin Dunn & Chrissie van Varik. Bobby Charles was born Robert Charles Guidry on 21st February 1938 in Abbeville, Louisiana. A native Cajun himself, he recalled that his life “changed for ever” when he re-tuned his parents’ radio set from a local Cajun station to one playing records by Fats Domino. Most successful as a songwriter, he is regarded as one of the founding fathers of swamp pop. His own vocal style was laidback and drawling. His biggest successes were songs other artists covered, such as ‘See You Later Alligator’ by Bill Haley & His Comets; ‘Walking To New Orleans’ by Fats Domino – with whom he recorded a duet of the same song in the 1990s – and ‘(I Don’t Know Why) But I Do’ by Clarence “Frogman” Henry. It allowed him to live off the songwriting royalties for the rest of his life! Two other well-known compositions are ‘The Jealous Kind’, recorded by Joe Cocker, and ‘Tennessee Blues’ which Kris Kristofferson committed to record. Disenchanted with the music business, Bobby disappeared from the music scene in the mid-1960s but returned in 1972 with a self-titled album on the Bearsville label on which he was accompanied by Rick Danko and several other members of the Band and Dr John. Bobby later made a rare live appearance as a guest singer on stage at The Last Waltz, the 1976 farewell concert of the Band, although his contribution was cut from Martin Scorsese’s film of the event. Bobby Charles returned to the studio in later years, recording a European-only album called Clean Water in 1987.
