All-Star hopefuls The 12th All-Star Game will take place on July 23 at Vince Genna Stadium, the home of the Bend Elks.

Several AppleSox players have put themselves in position to earn an All-Star berth ahead of the mid-summer classic.

Here’s just three of several deserving AppleSox All-Stars. Cole McKenzie

The incoming senior at Purdue leads the AppleSox with a .411 average, 23 hits and five doubles. His batting average is also third in the West Coast League. He has recorded eight multi-hit games. McKenzie enters the weekend with hits in 10 of his last 11 games.

Sam Wyatt

In four appearances of relief, Wyatt has allowed just two earned runs in 14.1 innings. His 14.1 innings-pitched are second most on the team and tops among relievers. Wyatt has tossed at least three innings in three of his four outings and his 17 strikeouts are second-most on the team.

Landon Schirer

In seven relief appearances, Schirer has only allowed one run and hadn’t allowed any until his sixth appearance of the season. The right-hander has locked down three saves and struck out 11 batters. Schirer has only allowed four hits in nine innings-pitched.

Two former Sox Alums Make MLB Debuts By tossing 4.1 innings on April 30 against the Toronto Blue Jays, Griffin Canning became the 12th AppleSox alum to appear in an MLB game. Canning allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out six batters.

Canning picked up his first major-league win in his next outing, May 7 on the road against the Detroit Tigers. The right-hander allowed two runs (both earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out seven in 5.1 innings.

The Angels selected Canning 47th overall in the Canning with the Sox in 2014 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

In 2014, Canning went 1-1 with a 1.61 ERA in five appearances (four starts). In each of his final two starts with the AppleSox, June 3 and 11, Canning tossed six scoreless innings and struck out eight and 10 batters, respectively. Keston Hiura became the 13th AppleSox alum to appear in a major-league game when he went 2- for-3 with two singles and a walk while starting at second base against the .

Hiura hit his first major-league home run in his sixth major-league game on May 19 against the Atlanta Braves.
