A letter from the Pastor ~ The Most Holy Trinity ~

Dear Parishioners:

DEACONS @ CURE: This weekend The Parish Family of Curé of Ars offers our collective thank you to our dedicated ! It is very appropriate that today is “Father’s Day” – as we honor our fathers – living among us and/or living with God the Father in heaven! Deacon Joe Zubrovich and Deacon Ron Federici have served us as diaconal “fathers.” Deacon Joe and his wife Cathy have just moved to Whitehall, Pennsylvania. Both of them have been very involved in parish life for many years. We thank Deacon Joe for his consistent, joyful and dedicated service and wish him and Cathy all the very best. Deacon Joe will be back for weddings and other opportunities of “visitation” – thank God!

We also want to thank Deacon Ron and his wife Cathy for their enthusiastic and loving devotion to our parish family. Deacon Ron teaches music at Freeport High School and is involved in various parochial ministries (wedding and planning and celebrations, wakes, preaching, etc.)! All of us are grateful for his ongoing commitment to our all of us. Deacon Ron will be increasing his monthly preaching going forward and will be offering the homily (as the deacons have done) on the third Sunday of each month. Now he will be preaching at all five Masses. Thank you Deacon Ron for this further commitment to all of us as you open the Sunday Scriptures for the parish family.

I have spoken to two parishioners and asked them to consider the diaconate. They are discerning the possibility. The preparation now involves about five years. The age-limit to begin is 60 (generally, folks 65 and above are not eligible in this diocese). If you would like to prayerfully recommend a possible candidate, please let me know. Thanks again – from all of us – to Deacons Ron and Deacon Joe!

SEMINARIAN: Seminarian Steven McClernon continues to be present to multiple parochial and pastoral opportunities. If you would like him to visit your particular parish group, please call him at extension 127. As you can see from the photo – Steven has been introducing the “Curé of Merrick” (Father Zach) to the iPad at age 92!

By the way, on July 7th Father Zach will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of his enlisting into the Navy. He served in the “Pacific Theater” on the USS Thetis C.V.E. 90, USS Argone A.G. 31 and the Japanese battleship Nagato from Tokyo Bay to Bikini Atoll. And all of this in only 2 years active duty!!

FORMED: Please see the very important message on Page 11 from Mrs. Trisha Williams about “FORMED.” Your opinion to her about the use and value of “FORMED” (to you) would be appreciated so that we can evaluate the future use of this resource.

SEAS: This weekend, two students from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Regional School, who are Parishioners of Curé, will speak after the Masses to thank YOU for your support of SEAS! (Ten percent of our collections go towards the support of our regional ).

YOUTH GROUP: Kieran Maelia, our Youth Group co-minister, will be returning to seminary formation in the near future and will therefore no longer be able to assist Lou Cicalese in this capacity. If you are interested in participating in an open discussion regarding the future of our youth ministry, Lou and I will be conducting a meeting on Wednesday, June 26th at 7:30 PM in the church.

PICNIC: Are you interested (and will you help out and/or attend) a parish summer picnic? Last year, we only had very few signed up and had to cancel it due to the small number. If you want it to happen, we have decided it will be on Sunday, August 4. Please let us know by emailing Rosemary with the subject: Picnic, at [email protected] before June 24th.. It’s up to you to make this family FUNraiser happen! Are you in?

CONFIRMATION PREP: Parents of students entering 7th Grade in the Fall are invited to a Spiritual Enrollment Prayer Service in the Church at 8:15pm on Monday, June 25th. Students need not attend.

PARENTS: KEEP WATCH PLANNED PARENTHOOD IS COMING FOR YOUR CHILDREN

PLANNED PARENTHOOD PROVIDES BIRTH CONTROL & ABORTION TO CHILDREN AGE 13 YEARS & UP Wait for it . . . . WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE By Deborah M. Johnson In this age of technology it's not difficult to find the slithering arm of Planned Parenthood - reaching out to grab your children. They are in the public schools lecturing about sex (shiver!) and have “proudly” developed a program for very young children called “Roo, the sexual health chatbot - available 24 hours.” All the information is out there. It's in the schools, it's on the net. All it takes is a simple Google search, just like the one I did. I'd like to share some ”teen” information I found (also readily available to your daughters (and sons). Why do they offer it? Because there's a market . . . and it's lucrative. Please feel free to take multiple copies of the bulletin & share this crucial information with others. Excerpts From Planned Parenthood of NYC”s Website: TEENS’ RIGHTS TO SERVICES & CONFIDENTIALITY “Planned Parenthood of New York City is here to help you! All teens are welcome at our health centers, no matter how old you are, your ability to pay, or your immigration status. You can book an appointment online for most services.” “We can get you started on hormonal birth control methods (pills, shot, patch, ring) without needing an exam first.” “PPNYC respects your right to confidentiality. NYS law allows teens to consent to confidential family planning services and reproductive health care, including abortion. This means you can make an appointment & get any of these services at our health centers without asking your parents' permission: *All types of birth control *Emergency contraception (also known as the “morning after pill” although you can take it up to 5 days after unprotected sex) *Pregnancy testing *STI counseling, testing & treatment *HIV/AIDS counseling & testing *ABORTION - MEDICAL AND SURGICAL “AFTER YOUR VISIT, YOUR PARENTS WILL NOT BE TOLD ABOUT THE CARE(!) YOU RECEIVED IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO TELL THEM.” The website goes on to tell them not to worry if they can't afford it, to come anyway and funding will be found. Please work and pray to defund Planned Parenthood and close all local clinics. Education about their so-called “services” is key - it is crucial that we share the truth with others and protect innocent children from this vile organization. Planned Parenthood is sexualizing children, murdering babies and undermining parental authority. Ask yourself this: Why is our tax money still funding them? To learn more about defending the unborn and protecting the children from Planned Parenthood please call Ted at “Center of Life” Catholic store: 516:409-6201. Curé of Ars -7- June 16, 2019

Weekly Reflection Our Lady’s Rosary Makers The Trinity is a foundational Christian doctrine. Our next Rosary Makers Ministry It is also difficult to understand. For some it is a math meeting will be on Thursday, June 20th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the puzzle: how can there be three within one? On the Conference Room. Questions: three gods. We might have an easier time saying please call Jane @ 516-771-8469. what the Trinity is not than what it is. It can be easier to recognize a challenge to the belief in one God or the belief that there are three within that one God. The Bible may not state that there are three persons in one God, but the three persons of the Trinity are frequently found together. Today’s gospel, an excerpt from Jesus’ Last Supper discourse, is one such place. The Spirit will come to communicate Jesus’ message, not a new one. And since what Jesus has, the Father also has, the Spirit will continue the revelation of the one God. When we worship together, we celebrate things rather than define them. Thus, we affirm our belief in the Trinity each Sunday in the Creed, as well as when we invoke the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit throughout the liturgy.

Faith-in-Action Weekend Formed Stewardship “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for content of the week one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

The Fourth Pillar of Christian Stewardship: Service

One could argue that there is no better quote about Christian service in the Bible than the one stated above. We are called to evangelize and there is no better way to do this than to show love to all. If there is to be more Christians in the world than it can only happen through our service to others.

With so much suffering in the world, there are so many ways available for us to go out and help others.

You can make a difference right in your own parish or in a Diocesan ministry.  Bring a senior to Mass.  Talk to your pastor to find out how you can be of service.

 Food pantries, soup kitchens and religious education programs are there waiting for us to get involved. You can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Think about that; if you donated a few hours of your time to a certain service project or opportunity, you could brighten the days of an individual who needed it. Let us make Long Island a better place for someone today. Living Stewardship Intercession We are called to evangelize, and what better way is there to do Help us Lord to realize that we need to put our Faith into action. that than to love. Show love today to all you encounter, that is Ignite our hearts so that we may show love to all of our brothers the simplest and easiest way to love. We can go a step further and sisters. In Your Name we pray… by helping those who need love the most.

Religious Freedom Week 2019: Strength in Hope June 22 - June 29 Join us, June 22 - June 29, as we pray, reflect, and take action on religious liberty, both here in this country and abroad.

In the pilgrimage of this life, hidden with Christ in God and free from enslavement to wealth, they aspire to those riches which remain forever and generously dedicate themselves wholly to the advancement of the kingdom of God and to the reform and improvement of the temporal order in a Christian spirit. Among the trials of this life they find strength in hope, convinced that "the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come that will be revealed in us" (Rom. 8:18). -Apostolicam actuositatem, 4

“Religious freedom certainly means the right to worship God, individually and in community, as our consciences dictate. But religious liberty, by its nature, transcends places of worship and the private sphere of individuals and families.” (—Address at Independence Hall, Philadelphia, September 26, 2015) Curé of Ars -17- June 16, 2019 Curé of Ars -18- June 16, 2019 “With Organ and Voice” St. Hildegard Light of Hope Music in St. Agnes Cathedral Light of Hope is a prayer group consecrated to CONCERT!
