SCOUT & CELLAR We source Clean-Crafted™ wine from all over the world, creating and bottling wildly delicious wines with an authentic sense of place, working directly with growers and producers who embody our Clean-Crafted Commitment® in their daily practices. We walk through the vineyards, visit the cellars and share meals together. The end result? Delicious wines. Better in the bottle. Better in your glass. Better for the planet. For a wine to be considered Clean-Crafted™, it goes through two rounds of independent lab testing to guarantee that it's free of yucky stuff like synthetic pesticides and chemical additives and has fewer than 100ppm of total sulfites. We also evaluate and review farming and production practices to confirm that they are, in fact, Clean-Crafted. Why do we do this? Because we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Because we're committed to offering a more natural, altogether better-tasting wine experience.

Aquia District Scouts BSA Continue to Serve Stafford Safely

As summer ended, Aquia District Scouts BSA focused on helping Stafford Community residents by conducting a second No- Contact Food Drive on August 22, 2020. Scouts and their families did their Good Turn by collecting 4,353 pounds of food to help replenish the dwindling supplies of local Stafford County pantries. Like the initial Scouts BSA food drive in May, the goal was to support local pantries and keep Scouts, Scouting families, pantry volunteers and donors all safe by maintaining physical distancing. Scouts answered the call by publicizing the event virtually and with flyers and then donning masks to collect donations from doorsteps and driveways. Some Scout units worked with their homeowners’ associations to share information and created neighborhood collections points, keeping COVID safety in mind at all times.

Stafford pantries were grateful for the donations, as they are expecting a prolonged demand due to corona-virus related job loss and furloughs and still need more donations which are the main source of non-perishables for these food pantries.

This coming November, Aquia District Scouts will conduct “Scouting For Food” – the nation-wide, annual Scout BSA food drive campaign. Scouts "Do a Good Turn" by helping Stafford County & Dumfries food pantries stock up for the holidays and for months beyond.

Scouts and Scouting families will trek through assigned neighborhoods on November 7th to deliver reminders about donating, then return the following weekend (November 14th) to collect donations from doorsteps and driveways. Together they will load up trucks, vans and trailers and bring donations to designated drop-off points. Other Scouts, Scouting families and volunteers will help unload, weigh and sort items at drop-off points - activities usually highlighted by chaotic fun and underscored by a joy that comes with serving those in need. This year’s Scouting For Food may look a little different, with the added emphasis on the safety of all participants. Aquia District Scouts will demonstrate living the Scout Oath in service to others by “Helping Other People At All Times.”

ARE YOU READY TO HELP OTHERS TOO? To join BSA, go to www.beascout.org to find a BSA Scout unit near you - Cub Scouting serves families with children in NEXT Kindergarten through 5th Grade; Scouts BSA serves families with children ages 11-18. There are also BSA programs for families FOOD with older Youths, ages 14 – 21, including becoming Venturers, Explorers or Sea Scouts. DRIVE The mission of the BSA is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices November 14 over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Aquia District is part of the National Capital Area Council (NCAC) of the Boy Scouts of Donations will be America (BSA). The Aquia District includes Stafford County, Virginia, and Marine Corps Base Quantico. For more information on Scouting in the Fredericksburg area, including picked up from how to donate, join or volunteer, contact Tom Friedel, District Executive, at doorsteps & driveways. FORTUNE, CHANCE, LUCK TO IMPROVE SUCCESS by John F. Gillespie, Jr.

I don’t rely on luck, but I consider myself lucky. Our success is determined by fortune, chance and luck. Fortune are the things that have occurred to us without our interaction or intervention. I was fortunate to be born in the greatest country in the world. Chance is having something good happen to you after you take an action. My first memorable encounter with chance was when I was 10 years old. I entered a raffle at a large store, even though my father stated I was wasting my time. My name was called over the intercom and I won. That small chance event taught me you have to take action to get results. That is where my journey with luck began. According to Wikipedia, “luck is the phenomenon and belief that defines the experience of notable positive, negative or improbable events”.
