Director of Marketing Meredith Hart & Communications On Wednesday night, Danny Cordray and his teammates at Central Crossing High School will appear on Membership Rob Walker the WOSU-TV broadcast of the championship round of In the Know, a long-running quiz show. Cordray is the son of Richard Cordray, who 40 years ago was on the championship In the Know team at Friends of WOSU Board Grove City High School. President Bill Schiffman Yes, that Richard Cordray, director of the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, former Ohio Vice President Kathy McGinnis treasurer and, most relevantly for the topic at hand, five-time champion on Jeopardy! Secretary/Treasurer Kyle Anderson In fact, Cordrays have been demonstrating their game-playing prowess for three generations: Frank, Board Members father of Richard and grandfather of Danny, had the distinction of being the only bridge player to win tournaments in eight different decades. Dan Cvetanovich Ray LaVoie Ann DiMarco Michelle Leedy Danny, a senior at Central Crossing, competes on In the Know with teammates Haarith Ahmed, Nazar Laura Ecklar Ed Lentz Jeri Grier Debbie Mitchell Momot and Serina Smith. The finals this year, pitting Central Crossing against Olentangy High School, took place several days ago for taped broadcast, and I will not reveal the outcome. But the competition was tense. Of course, Richard, who spends his workweek in Washington and commutes home to Grove City on weekends, is no stranger to high-pressure television: He won $45,303 on Jeopardy! in 1987 and has been grilled in televised congressional hearings about the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to which he was appointed by President Barack Obama. Father and son have another parallel: Richard was co-valedictorian of his 1977 graduating class, and Danny is valedictorian of his. Danny will graduate on June 3 with his twin sister, Holly, and plans to attend Duke University. The Cordrays, not surprisingly, enjoy games even when they’re not on television. They like playing, among others, Scrabble, Password and a trivia game called Bezzerwizzer. I asked whether they engage in cutthroat tactics. “Nothing crazy,” Danny said, “but we all like to win.” (Editor’s Note: Central Crossing was crowned Champion of the 2016/17 Season of In the Know when the final episode aired on WOSU TV the day this article appeared.) 2 For detailed listings, visit wosu.org Primetime and Weekend Schedule for WOSU TV 3:00 pm More Trains Around North America: Monday, June 5, 2017 Programs are subject to change Great Scenic Railway Journeys 7:30 pm Sara’s Weeknight Meals during Pledge Weeks: 6:00 pm BrainFit: 50 Ways to Grow Your 8:00 pm The 60s Generation Brain with Daniel Amen, MD Essential folk rock, R&B, and pop hits from the era and Tana Amen, RN June 3 - June 13 of peace, love and music of social protest. • Presto in January
Media Release: Thursday, December 17, 2015 Presto in January True Detective season 1 starts its investigation on Presto along with new seasons of Ray Donovan, Penny Dreadful and The Americans Presto today announced key programming set to kick off the New Year starting with the critically acclaimed True Detective (season 1). The edge-of-your-seat anthology crime drama is a Presto SVOD exclusive and centres on the lives of Louisiana State Police homicide detectives Rustin "Rust" Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Martin "Marty" Hart (Woody Harrelson) and follows a seventeen- year journey of flashbacks where the two detectives recount a murder. With the perpetrator still at large, it’s a race against time for these two men to piece things together and stop the cycle. Also streaming in January, is the third season of tough guy drama, Ray Donovan starring Liev Schreiber, as the title character. Ray is a "fixer" for L.A.’s elite celebrities, athletes and business moguls when they need to make their problems disappear. But no amount of money can mask Ray's past, which continues to haunt him and threatens to destroy everything he has built for himself. Many people are familiar with the classic tales of Dr. Frankenstein and Dorian Gray. Penny Dreadful brings those and other characters into a new light by exploring their origin stories in this psychological thriller that takes place in the dark corners of Victorian London. Presto adds season 2 from January. Finally, The Americans introduces viewers to Philip and Elizabeth Jennings, two KGB spies in an arranged marriage who are posing as Americans during the 1980s.
