UMass Lowell won that first meeting in 1969 and owns a 5-1-1 series lead. The most recent meeting was at the Mariucci Tournament in January of 2015. October 12th in UMass Lowell Hockey History

1984 – Freshman wing Tony LoPilato becomes the first player in Lowell’s history to have a hat trick in his first collegiate game when he scores three times in the Chiefs’ 6-5 overtime loss to Northern Michigan at the Tully Forum. It is the first Hockey East game for ULowell and part of an interlocking schedule with the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Games with WCHA teams count in the Hockey East League standings. 2001 – Blaise MacDonald wins his first game as UMass Lowell’s fifth head coach, beating Niagara University – the school he had just left – 7-3 at the Tsongas Arena. MacDonald wins his first four games.

2002 – Senior Ed McGrane scores a goal and adds two assists while recording his 100th career point, and unranked UMass Lowell beats the nation’s 10th-ranked team as the River Hawks upend Colorado College 4-1 in Colorado Springs.

20th ANNIVERSARY: The Tsongas Center, January 26, celebrated its 20th anniversary. The building owned jointly by the city and the state, at the time, opened, as the Tsongas Arena, on January 27, 1998 as Dartmouth defeated UMass Lowell, 2-1, in overtime in the first event of any sort to take place in the venue. Congresswoman , joined on ice by her family, did as she had twenty years ago and officiate at the ceremonial puck drop.UMass Lowell is 183-134-29 all-time in the building now owned by the university.
