A Wainwright Wander with Sandra Robinson

Grade. A Distance 9.3miles / 15km Climbing 4000 ft / 1219m From Seatoller we walk down the road to Honister Hause. Then we go up and on to Brandreth (both Wainwrights). Next we move on to Green Gable and Great Gable (two more Wainwrights). We then go down to Styhead Tarn. Our final Wainwright is Seathwaite Fell. After this we head back to Seathwaite and then Seatoller and hopefully find some wild raspberries before refreshments and the coach home.

High Spy with Tony Ingham . Grade B+ Distance 9 miles / 14.5km Climbing 2400ft / 732m

We start the walk from Seatoller and head north to Tongue Gill on the Ramble path. Here we turn due west and climb steeply up through the disused Rigghead Quarries to reach the ridge where we turn north again. We go to the top of High Spy (2143ft /653m). Continuing along the ridge we climb Maiden Moor (1887ft/575m) and, after dropping down to 1100ft/335m, we climb up again to Cat Bells (1481ft/451m). We then descend Cat Bells and Skelgill Bank to Hawse End. From there the walk takes us to Portinscale via Fawe Park on the Way and on into Keswick for refreshments and the coaches.

A Grand Day Out with Kevin Poole Grade B Distance 8½ miles / 13.8km Climbing 500ft / 152m

We leave the coach at Rosthwaite and head towards the River Derwent and follow the Cumbria Way taking us through woodlands to Grange (we can buy some ice cream here. Yum Yum!). A small section of country road walking is now required. The path then takes us to the shore of Derwent Water with its wonderful views of the northern fells. Weather permitting, we can soak our feet in the cool refreshing waters of Derwent as we watch the pleasure cruisers and yachts sail bye, admire the sculpture of two huge hands and gape, mouth open, head slightly bowed, at the mighty Skiddaw watching over us. Then it’s on to Keswick. The climbing during this walk is minimal and the paths are good. Even at a comfortable pace we should finish with time for some shopping and/or replacement of fluids. So if you want a nice easy Sunday stroll – this could be the walk for you!

A Lakeside Walk, Grange to Keswick with Bill Manning Grade C Distance 6 miles / 9.7km Minimal climbing

Leaving the coach at Grange we spend a short time here with a toilet stop before leaving the village by the road to join the Cumbria Way taking us to the shores of Derwent Water at Park Neb. Continuing through Manesty Park we leave the lakeside path at Brandelhow Bay to follow the woodland path to Hawse End below Catbells. Still following the woodland path we head to Nichol End and soon take a private road passing Lingy Acre and turning right at Little Ellers. We now come to the footbridge over the River Derwent which takes us into Keswick for the shops and cafés. The coaches will meet us later near the bus terminus.
