XYLO Molding has been furnishing quality moldings for over 37 years in Historic Savannah, Georgia. Recently XYLO Molding has become a division of Architectural Millwork Products of Savannah, moving into their larger location in Savannah.
XYLO continues to manufacture quality moldings in their new facility, shipping to all areas of North America. XYLO is fully equipped to furnish custom designs according to your specifications should you require a specific molding.
XYLO Moldings’ association with members of the Savannah art community is strong. In recent years, XYLO has enjoyed close cooperation with the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), assisting students and professors in framing their works.

XYLO has added the newest state of the art CNC router to its list of modern machinery. This computerized machine gives the customer the ability to order custom profiles. In addition to the standard lineal footage molding in which XYLO is well known for producing, custom radius frames and special configurations are now possible at an affordable price. FFFINISHING
WANT US TO DO THE FINISHING? All of our profiles are inventoried as unfinished; however we will custom hand finish. A minimum order of 25 feet is required for finished molding orders, except for chop orders.
CLEAR LACQUER ON EXOTICS: Clear lacquer shows the natural color of the wood with its grain and beautiful characteristics. It is great on Rosewood, Mahogany, Cherry, Oak, Ash and all of the Maples, Red Cedar and Walnut.
OUR FINISHES: All finishes are lacquered unless otherwise specified. XYLO finishes are among the most consistent available. However, since the properties of wood are not consistent themselves, we can not ensure that each molding part of the frame project will look exactly alike, nor can we guarantee that a project will exactly match the initial sample. Therefore, XYLO does allow for a range of color on its finished moldings. This acceptable color range may span several shades above or below the average shade for a stain/species combination.
Stains: Light Walnut, Medium Walnut, Brown Walnut, Dark Walnut, Light Mahogany, Dark Mahogany, Light Oak, Dark Oak, Light Cherry, Medium Cherry, Dark Cherry, Fruit Wood, Brown Tink, Gray and Brown. • All stains are top coated with clear lacquer unless otherwise specified. • Stains can vary on any molding when wood density on any molding changes. This is a natural phenomenon which may occur on any wood species. This is not a fault of the staining process.
Painted Colors: Gold, Silver, Antique Gold, Antique Silver, Black or White.
Washes: Gray, White or Black Wash.

UNFINISHED MOLDINGS: Prices are quoted in dollars and cents per foot of molding. There is no handling charge on orders of 100 feet or more. There is a $4.00 handling charge for orders less than 100 feet. For hand sanding unfinished moldings, add $0.50 per foot.
CHOP P RICE [ MITERED CUTS]* Chop price is double the price per foot. Refer to the footage chart on the following page for determining length of molding needed for chops. Thumb-nailing (If applicable) is available for $5.00 per set of four.

TTTHE CCCOMPILATION F RAME XYLO is your leading supplier of raw wood moldings for compilation frames. Compilation frames are designed of multiple moldings. Notations on the diagram below depict the general anatomy of a frame and are an aid in understanding the categorical indexing of our moldings for compilation frame design. Other notations depict molding characteristics of this particular frame, which are also descriptive of and a cross-over into architectural moldings from which frame making was derived.
Sight Edge – the innermost section of the frame that borders the artwork. This may be on a liner or the rabbet molding of the frame. Rabbet – the 90° area of the frame [shown below the sight edge] that borders the artwork. Several moldings include a rabbet. A liner will always have a rabbet unless it is a slip, a flat piece of molding [i.e. ID# YD-1], used to marry an existing painting to a particular frame. In compilation frame design a liner is followed by a rabbet molding. Leg [or side] – the Section of the frame that faces forward from the wall from the sight edge including all components up to the top edge or rail. Rail – the point where the top edge curves in towards other elements [most obscure]. Top Edge – the element of the frame farthest from the wall [that which is closest to the viewer and identified as a cap]. Back [and/or Back Edge] – the element of the frame farthest removed from the artwork. Verso – the blind section of the frame not visible when hung.
Reeding – molding having parallel strips resembling thin reeds. Frieze – a flat panel between raised moldings, occasionally and usually adorned with a decorative motive [or running ornament repeated on all sides of the frame]. Taenia – a narrow band – in framing it is usually raised. Cove or Scotia – a concave molding, semicircular/ or so in profile: deeper than a channel [Channel i.e. ID# 9-2]. Hollow – a concave section often appearing next to the back edge.
The Taenia and Frieze shown below can be constructed of two pieces of molding #YD-1; or a combination of #YD-1 and #S24 1 ¼; or with slight alteration (ripping) #37-1. If a wider frame is needed, #11-1 could be used as a liner and the #37-1 shown below as a liner could be incorporated as the rabbet molding of the joined frame.
