  • Natural and Socio-Economic Effects of Erosion Control in Mountainous
Natural and socio-economic effects of erosion control in mountainous regions: A report and concluding remarks Miodrag Zlatic Belgrade University, Faculty of Forestry, Yugoslavia 2003 [email protected] Keywords: mountains, erosion, soil erosion, water erosion, recommendations. Introduction The International Conference on “Natural and Socio-Economic Effects of Erosion Control in Mountainous Regions”, a contribution to the International Year of Mountains (IYM), was held in Belgrade and Banja Vrujci, 10-13th December 2002. This meeting was convened to explore and construct links between the biophysical and socioeconomic aspects of erosion control provision and to build on ideas emerging from earlier contributions to the IYM, not least September 2002’s Headwater Control conference in Nairobi and the United Nations University’s ‘Public Forum: Mountains: Environment and Human Activities’. Copies of the Public Forum CD-rom and also the ‘Nairobi ‘Headwater’ Declaration 2002’ were included in the papers given to each delegate. Among other pressing motivations for this meeting was a desire to promote erosion control and the sustainable reconstruction of land and livelihoods in the troubled hills of the Balkan States and worldwide. This work would aim to bridge national divisions and reconstruct patterns of cooperation for the solution of a shared problem: depopulation and economic stress in the smaller communities of the Balkan hill country. This meeting also sought to start the work of re-building Yugoslavia’s earlier eminence as a centre for innovation in erosion control, so bringing to a close years of isolation caused by political and civil conflict and UN sanctions. This Conference was convened by the Forestry Faculty of the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and co-sponsored by WASWC (World Association for Soil and Water Conservation) and the Belgrade-based NGO CEKOR "Center for Ecology and Sustainable Development".

  • Kolubara Coal Basin, Serbia) Hidrogeološki Model Površinskog Kopa „Tamnava - Zapadno Polje“ (Rudarski Basen „Kolubara“)
UNDERGROUND MINING ENGINEERING 29 (2016) 43-54 UDK 62 UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE - FACULTY OF MINING AND GEOLOGY YU ISSN 03542904 Professional paper A HYDROGEOLOGICAL MODEL OF THE OPEN-CAST MINE TAMNAVA-WEST FIELD (KOLUBARA COAL BASIN, SERBIA) HIDROGEOLOŠKI MODEL POVRŠINSKOG KOPA „TAMNAVA - ZAPADNO POLJE“ (RUDARSKI BASEN „KOLUBARA“) Ratković Jelena1, Polomčić Dušan1, Bajić Dragoljub1, Hajdin Bojan1 Received: November 3, 2016 Accepted: December 8, 2016 Abstract: The Kolubara Coal Basin is the largest coal-producing area in Serbia. It is administratively comprised of several open-cast mines: Field A, Field B, Field C, Field D, Field E, Field F, Field G, Veliki Crljeni, Šopić-Lazarevac, Tamnava - West Field, Tamnava – East Field, Radljevo, Zvizdar, Ruklade, and Trlić. The paper focuses on the largest active open-cast mine: Tamnava - West Field. A study and conclusions about the hydrogeologic functions of the lithologic strata, and insight into their spatial interactions, are extremely important for hydrogeologic modeling of a given area. The main purpose of a hydrogeologic model is to derive conclusions about the spread of the aquifers in the study area, their interactions, and groundwater flow conditions. Based on geologic and hydrogeologic exploration, and analysis and synthesis of the collected data, the paper describes hydrogeologic modeling of the open-cast mine Tamnava – West Field. The software used in the research provides a portrayal of the 3D distribution of the aquifers present in the study area. As such, the hydrogeologic model constitutes a basis for developing a hydrodynamic (mathematical) model of the groundwater regime. Keywords: hydrogeologic (conceptual) model, aquifer, model layers, hydrogeologic parameters Apstrakt: Kolubarski ugljonosni basen najveći je basen uglja u Republici Srbiji.

Aim of this paper is to measure the guests’ satisfaction level by the intangible components of offer in the Kolubara District hotels, i.e. to show the significance of this dimension in the total process of providing hotel services. Satisfied guests show a higher loyalty level, which represents a precondition for visiting the same hotel by the same guests and recommend it to their friends. The research was conducted in four hotels, where 100 respondents, the guests of the hotel, were surveyed. The research results showed that the intangible dimension of hotel offer can predetermine and increase the value of services to a large degree, and guests’ satisfaction as the users of services as well.
