Once again I am pleased to be able to share with you the progress we have made over the last 12 months . The Metro extension in Birmingham opened on time in December 2019 with new stops at Town Hall and Centenary Square offering step-free access to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the International Convention Centre and Symphony Hall . By 2021 the Metro will run along Broad Street and the Hagley Road giving people more options travelling through the West side of Birmingham . The future of our Ring and Ride service, which provides door-to-door transport for more than 12,300 people in the West Midlands has been secured thanks to the signing of a new contract by National Express West Midlands . This vital service operates between 8am and 11pm Monday to Saturday and from 8 .30am to 3 .30pm on Sundays, supporting around 850,000 trips a year .
