Born in Strasbourg in 1964, Emmanuel Villaume began his musical education at the Strasbourg Conservatory and continued his studies in Paris, where he graduated in literature, philosophy and musicology. He is Music Director of Dallas Opera since 2013, and Music Director and Chief Conductor of the PKF – since September 2015. He served as Music Director at the Spoleto Festival USA from 2001 to 2010. During that time he conducted numerous symphonic concerts and opera performances for the Festival, including a noted Mahler symphonies cycle, the American première of Henze’s Der Prinz von Homburg , and acclaimed productions of Ariadne auf Naxos, Manon Lescaut, Der fliegende Holländer, Don Giovanni, Lakmé and Louise . Recently he conducted in Italy L’Africaine at Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and Carmen at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. He was on the podium of some among the world’s most important opera houses and concert halls, including and Avery Fisher Hall in New York, in London, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Washington National Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Dallas Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Cologne Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Hamburg Staatsoper, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Oper Bonn, Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Opéra de Nancy. He has been a regular guest of important orchestras, including Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, Orchestre National de Belgique, Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, Münchner Rundfunkorchester, NHK Orchestra of Tokyo, China National Opera Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Québec Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Beethoven Orchestra of Bonn, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Kungliga Filharmonikerna, Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi di Milano.
