Having never been told the results of my testing, it was not by design, but only through fate and good fortune that I became a makeup artist. Happily it’s a craft that I love and one that came to me naturally. My career began unwittingly, working at a Christian Dior cosmetics counter while attending college. I quickly learned that I had a talent for applying makeup and it wasn’t long before I had the highest sales in the country aside from Bloomingdales, Manhattan. My “big break” happened when I lived next door to a burgeoning photographer John Patrick Salisbury and cinematographer Henri Bristol. I did lots of photo shoots with John Patrick, and worked on Henri's USC masters thesis project. His film, "Seed", went on to be nominated at the Sundance Film Festival and I went on to make 3 features with the leading actor Rose McGowan, thus beginning my career in film and television. Many elements need to come together in a production or photo shoot. The subject, the crew, long hours, hard work, experienced talent, and laughter are all just a part of what it takes to make it a success. To that end, I believe in the following: -Keeping the focus on the work, the mood light and positive -Remembering the job is 60% how they look and 40% how they feel -Respect the trust an actor is investing in you in creating a look -Watch over them throughout the day -Remain aware of light and shadow -Never discount the privacy and mutual respect involved in the actor/makeup artist relationship. 4 -Every day I work I become a better artist -There is something to learn in each face each day I feel blessed to have fallen into a craft that I love and blessed that my passion has manifested in a career that I am proud of. I have traveled to the most remote and unexpected places and have met a huge spectrum of people. I have worked with legendary actors, Peter O’Toole and Olivia DeHavaland and actors I’m sure are legends in the making. Currently I live in Sherman Oaks with my husband Guy and our two little dogs. Host for the ceremony was American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Other highlights included a 30th anniversary tribute to a groundbreaking miniseries and a moving musical send-off to one of the most celebrated series in television history. Among the twenty-nine categories honored, NBC topped the list with seven wins. ABC and HBO followed closely with six winged statuettes each. Combined with their awards at last Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmys, the three networks led for the year as well: HBO earned twenty-one, NBC nineteen and ABC ten. CBS, which won one award on the night, also earned a total of ten between the two shows. The Sopranos, HBO’s acclaimed production about the travails of a New Jersey Mob boss and his intertwined biological and criminal families, took the prize for Outstanding Drama Series, and 30 Rock, NBC’s look at the backstage activity at a late-night sketch- comedy show, was named Outstanding Comedy Series.     30 Rock: Complexity, Metareferentiality and the Contemporary Quality Sitcom Katrin Horn When the sitcom 30 Rock first aired in 2006 on NBC, the odds were against a renewal for a second season. Not only was it pitched against another new show with the same “behind the scenes”-idea, namely the drama series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. 30 Rock’s often absurd storylines, obscure references, quick- witted dialogues, and fast-paced punch lines furthermore did not make for easy consumption, and thus the show failed to attract a sizeable amount of viewers. While Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip did not become an instant success either, it still did comparatively well in the Nielson ratings and had the additional advantage of being a drama series produced by a household name, Aaron Sorkin1 of The West Wing (NBC, 1999-2006) fame, at a time when high-quality prime-time drama shows were dominating fan and critical debates about TV.     Best known for his portrayal of Walter “Flynn” White Jr for five riveting seasons of AMC’s Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning dramatic thriller “Breaking Bad”, RJ Mitte is an actor, advocate and philanthropist who has carved out his niche in Hollywood by breaking down stereotypes and changing people’s mindsets with his easy going demeanor and positive outlook on life. During its final season, the “Breaking Bad” premiere drew approximately 5.9 million viewers, a number that nearly doubled to 10.3 million by the season’s final episode. As Walt Jr., referred to by fans as “The Breakfast King,” Mitte acted as the Cerebral Palsy-afflicted son of Walter (Bryan Cranston) and Skyler (Anna Gunn). Walter Jr.’s Cerebral Palsy on the show was embellished, meaning RJ had to learn how to walk on crutches and slur his speech to create a more dramatic version of his own disability. At the young age of three, Louisiana native Mitte was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, though that has never deterred his drive to succeed in television and film. After moving to Los Angeles due to his sister’s chance encounter with a casting director, Mitte landed roles in various shows such as SHOWTIME’s “Weeds,” NBC’s “Vegas,” CW’s “Everybody Hates Chris” and co-starred on ABC Family’s primetime hit show “Switched at Birth,” until being cast in his life-changing role on “Breaking Bad.” Concluding “Breaking Bad” Mitte, reemerged on the big screen in DIXIELAND, in his first non-handicapped leading role. Following this, he starred in a multitude of films such as: THE RECALL, opposite Wesley Snipes; TIEMPO COMPARTIDO (Official 2018 Selection World Cinema Dramatic Competition at Sundance); RIVER RUNS RED, in 2018, alongside John Cusack and George Lopez; and he also guest starred on Starz’ coming of age television thriller “Now Apocalypse,” which premiered in early 2019.

MARY ANN MCDONALD CAROLAN Summary : Nanni Moretti’s La stanza del figlio/The Son’s Room (2001) reveals the effects of a child’s death on the protagonist Giovanni (a psy - coanalyst played by Moretti) and his family. This film appears after Aprile/April (1998), which narrates both the birth of the director’s son Pietro as well as the Italian electoral campaign in 1996 in the month of the title. The arrival of a biological son followed by the death of a fic - tional one in Moretti’s oeuvre suggests greater implications for the par - ent-child relationship in Italy. This phenomenon also comments on the relationship between generations of Italian directors. An examination of Moretti’s earlier autobiographical film Caro diario/Dear Diary (1994) gives insight into this director’s relationship to other artists and also sug - gests implications for the future of Italian filmmaking. In Nanni Moretti’s La stanza del figlio /The Son’s Room (2001), the death of a child allows the narrative to explore the highly personal realm of grief.
