Market Size & Detail of Main Parties (Brand Wise) KASUR DISTRICT: GENERAL INFORMATION: kasur is situated on the north bank of the old bed of Beas River connected through Ferozpur road at a distance of about 53 km south east of Lahore. The total area of district kasur is 3,995 square kilometers Kasur District is one of the districts in the province of Punjab,Pakistan.It came into existence on 1ST July-1976-.Earlier it was part of Lahore District. Kasur District was created on 01-07-1976 after being detached by Lahore District. District Kasur is divided in three tehsils namely Tehsil Kasur, Tehsil Chunian and Tehsil Pattoki. The District is located along the Indian Border, 55 kilometers south of Lahore and is bounded on the east and southeast by India, on the southwest by District Okara and on the northwest by District Shiekhu Pura. The District has an area of 3,995 square kilometers. District is bounded by the River Ravi in the northwest and River Satluj in the southwest. The natural surface is a smooth plane, having a general slope from northeast to southwest and almost whole under cultivation through canals and tube wells. Prior to devolution, the District had nine ‘urban areas’ three managed by (now defunct) Municipal Committees and six by Town Committees. Kasur, Chunian and Pattoki Towns had Municipal Committees, while Mustafabad, Raja Jang, Kot Radha Kishan and Khuddian (in Tehsil Kasur), Kangan Pur (in Tehsil Chunian) and Phool Nagar (in Tehsil Pattoki) towns had Town Committees. Under devolution Plan, the rural-urban dichotomy was done away with, and the entire tehsils came under the jurisdiction of the newly formed Tehsil Municipal Administrations. There are two Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals in the District, located in Chunian and Pattoki. The THQ Hospitals provide emergency services and serve as a referral hospital for RHC’s and BHU’s. THQ Hospital Chunian is 40-bedded hospital while THQ Pattoki is 60-bedded hospitals, which are supplemented by surgical, medical gynecology and pediatric departments. THQ Pattoki is situated on the main Lahore - Multan Road, and caters for substantial road accident emergences also. There are 12 Rural Health Centers in the District as a whole in which 6 are located in Tehsil Kasur while 3 are located in other two tehsils CLIMATE: The district has extremes of climate in summer and winter seasons both. The hottest months are May, June and July. The maximum and minimum temperatures range between 40 and 27 degree centigrade respectively. The coldest months are December, January and February. During this period the fluctuate between 20 and 6 centigrade. The average annual rainfall in the district is 52 millimeters. POPULATION : According to the 1998, census the total population of the district is 23,76,000/- of this 95.4% are Muslims , 4.4% are Christians while the rest are Ahmadis , Hindus, and schedule castes 22.78% of the lived in urban areas, The 1998 census records the district population at 2.4 million with an annual growth rate of 2.63%, using this growth rate, the estimated population of the district in year 2006 approximately comes to 3,071,000. Major tribes and races in kasur district Mayo are 32%, Arian 30%, Jat 10%, others are 28% (Dogar, Ansari , Sheikh and Pathan). By; Nadeem Ahmed Khan 1 Dy. Manager Marketing Cherat Cement Company The overall density of District Kasur, based on population of 1998 Census is 594 persons per sq. km, while the gross densities of Tehsils Kasur, Chunian and Pattoki are 612, 482 and 711 respectively. Tehsil Pattoki has thus the highest population density while Chunian has the lowest. In terms of absolute numbers, Kasur is the largest Tehsil, in terms of population as well as area (each about 50% of the district-total) EDUCATION: Kasur is ranked among the nine districts with lowest literacy rate in Punjab. It is ranked 25 out of 34 districts in the province in terms of literacy rate.
