The report gives a background of the school district, describes the 45-15 plan in detail, analyzes its effects on school and community, and chronologically summarizes significant events that followed implementation of the plan. The plan, developed mostly by professional educators from the district, was developed out of economic necessity and not primarily as an experiment. Under the plan, students in the district spend 45 school days in school and 15 school days out of school in each of four cycles. In order to have the school in continuous operation, only one fourth of the students are on vacation at any one time. Hence, the students are placed in four groups staggered by 15-day periods.

Winter Newsletter, February 2020 ockport City School District Pride in Our Past, Faith in Our Future www.LockportSchools.org LION PROUD, LION STRONG… these are not just words, but it is who we are in the Lockport City School District. As the concept of the Winter 2020 Newsletter was being developed, it was decided that the district should share the many great things happening throughout Lockport schools and departments. In doing so, you will read about the numerous examples of pride relating to programs and people within the Lockport City School District. Below, you will find the four longstanding goals which guide all that we do in Lockport. 1. More students will achieve at higher academic levels; 2. Provide quality education in a fiscally responsible manner; 3. Achieve meaningful linkages and partnerships between Lockport City School District and business/industry and community; and 4. Create a district culture in which individuals are respected, continuously learning and focused on results. Related to the goals above, you should know that the four year graduation rate for Lockport Michelle T. Bradley continually exceeds the New York State graduation rate, and that of many similar small city school Superintendent of Schools districts in the state. Fiscal responsibility is taken seriously by the Board of Education. This is the time of the year when the Board of Education begins to focus on developing the school budget for the following school year. For updates relating to the 2020-2021 budget, you are encouraged to stay informed throughout the budget development process by visiting the district website.
