Michael Hegarty • Tel: 0161 281 6445 Beginner classes are popping up everywhere and it seems it [email protected] has become cool to dance again. Several popular films and TV Publisher shows have reminded people of how much fun it is to waltz, Betty Drummond tango or fox trot across the floor. In the UK we have Strictly [email protected] Dance Fever and Strictly Come Dancing, internationally it is The Linedancer Team known as Dancing With The Stars and for the lucky US readers Fox have been broadcasting some amazing dance talent on the show – So You Think You Can Editor Dance. Many years ago going to a dance hall was the thing to do and although it is long overdue Pamela Edelston it seems the craze has returned. With the exposure on TV, people are excited by what they see [email protected] and are joining us on the dancefloor. Editorial Assistant I was pleased to receive many letters from instructors who have found their beginner classes Laurent Saletto have also experienced an generous influx of newcomers to the floor. Some of the beginners are [email protected] already hooked and have subscribed to the magazine, if you are reading Linedancer for the first Dance Editor time I hope you are enjoying it. Steve Healy If you are teaching beginners let us know what dances you are enjoying and how much [email protected] fun your new classes are having. It also opens the door for choreographers to write some new Assistant Dance Editor and interesting easy dances. Kath Butler [email protected] This new found popularity maybe down to the media frenzy. In the office the phone has been ringing off the hook, as TV producers are looking for new ideas linked to Line dance. The media Advertising Sales Director is going Line dance crazy – here in the UK it is going to be on children’s TV, Prime time BBC, Chris Chew afternoon chat shows and property shows. I have a feeling Line dancing will be making the [email protected] headlines many times in 2006.

  • Sharing Your Faith: a Meaningful Meal
LOGOS The Newsletter for St. John’s Episcopal Church, Arlington “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not overcome it” John 1:5 June 2018 Sharing Your Faith: A Meaningful Meal Fourteen members of St. John’s gathered on April 29 after the 10 a.m. service for a Sharing Your Faith meal. The meal concluded a three-session seminar given by seminarian Kendrah McDonald on sharing your faith with one another and in the world. The Sharing Your Faith meal centered around cards containing faith questions to answer. Participants divided into two tables and then divided the cards into two parts. Each person looked through the cards and picked one he or she wanted to answer. Someone would share for three minutes and then the group would move on to the next person. There were no questions or comments, just sharing. After everyone had shared once, participants switched the cards and shared again. “We learned things about one another we didn’t know regarding what our faith experiences had been like growing up and what they are now. The meal and conversation were rewarding. Several people said they would like to do it again, so we will plan one for the near future,” said Rev. Ann Barker. FOIA2021 Response All the documented information held by Scarborough Borough Council that specifically relates to the suggestion/proposal to designate Hunmanby Gap and Primrose Valley Beaches as 'bathing beaches' is copied in the attached document. The Council holds no record of the number of bathers at Hunmanby Gap and Primrose Valley Beaches. FOIA 2021, Freedom of Information Act 2000 Response sent 17 May 2012 This is an attachment to the covering letter:- Copied below is the information held by Scarborough Borough Council that specifically relates to the suggestion to consider Hunmanby Gap and Primrose Valley Beaches to be designated 'bathing beaches'. Attempts have been made to list the information in chronological order (most recent first), however some strings of emails have been copied in entirety to shown the sequence of events and context so there are occasions where the separate entries appear to be out of chronological order. There are also some entries that are not in chronological order because it is more appropriate to keep them in context of the entry it follows e.g. the third and four entries below. Individual emails are not included when they form part of a string that is included in this list. Where information appears in more than one string of emails, the duplication has been removed leaving the beginning of the duplicated information with the following words ‘As earlier - duplication deleted’ Personal contact addresses have been removed. The following square dotted line indicates the start of a new email/email string or other piece of information. • The End of the Loudness War?
The End Of The Loudness War? By Hugh Robjohns As the nails are being hammered firmly into the coffin of competitive loudness processing, we consider the implications for those who make, mix and master music. In a surprising announcement made at last Autumn's AES convention in New York, the well-known American mastering engineer Bob Katz declared in a press release that "The loudness wars are over.” That's quite a provocative statement — but while the reality is probably not quite as straightforward as Katz would have us believe (especially outside the USA), there are good grounds to think he may be proved right over the next few years. In essence, the idea is that if all music is played back at the same perceived volume, there's no longer an incentive for mix or mastering engineers to compete in these 'loudness wars'. Katz's declaration of victory is rooted in the recent adoption by the audio and broadcast industries of a new standard measure of loudness and, more recently still, the inclusion of automatic loudness-normalisation facilities in both broadcast and consumer playback systems. In this article, I'll explain what the new standards entail, and explore what the practical implications of all this will be for the way artists, mixing and mastering engineers — from bedroom producers publishing their tracks online to full-time music-industry and broadcast professionals — create and shape music in the years to come. Some new technologies are involved and some new terminology too, so I'll also explore those elements, as well as suggesting ways of moving forward in the brave new world of loudness normalisation.

The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, as the national association representing members across the surveying disciplines, has in recent years developed rapidly and reorganised into a vibrant professional body, with over 5,500 members, playing an active role in national development. Ireland has a long and notable history of surveying and measurement from the carefully aligned network of hill-top monuments constructed over 5,000 years ago, to the completion of the world’s first large-scale national mapping in the mid nineteenth century and, in the last decade, the National Seabed Survey that ranks amongst the largest marine mapping programmes undertaken anywhere in the world. Meanwhile, Ireland has one of the most open economies in the world and most of the major international IT companies have established bases in Ireland. At the same time, young Irish graduates can be found bringing their skills and enthusiasm to all corners of the world and, in many cases, returning home enriched professionally and culturally by their time abroad.

About Our Orchestra Weston Youth Orchestra was established in 1958 to provide an environment for young musicians to improve their performance skills through playing in an orchestra. Many former members have gone on to forge careers within the world of music, including conducting and performing with the world’s top orchestras, arranging and composing music as well as playing for West End shows. In 2010 Nigel Hess, a former orchestra member and prominent composer of television and film scores, became the orchestra’s president. We are run solely by volunteers, and are a self-funding organisation whose running costs are paid for by public performances and annual membership fees. On average we perform four full concerts each year. Repertoire for these is primarily sourced from our own library. Please visit our website and like us on Facebook to find out more about us: www.westonyouthorchestra.org.uk www.facebook.com/westonyouthorchestra Obituaries Tom Philpott Earlier this year one of the orchestra’s most valuable supporters sadly passed away. Tom was involved with WYO for many years; firstly as a parent of a member, then latterly he took on the role of the orchestra’s treasurer. He remained in this role for a number of years, whilst his wife Sue acted as secretary, until he retired in 2009. His support of WYO, and his help and encouragement to its members, will be greatly missed. Frances Dewar Frances Dewar was a violinist, and later leader, of the orchestra in the 1980s. She went on to study violin at the Royal College of Music, where she won all the chamber music prizes and gave a recital with her quartet on Classic FM.
