13:05 FAIRYHOUSE, 2M TIMEFORM VIEW: This is by far the most exciting novice hurdle of the season to date. Willie Mullins, successful in 3 of the last 4 renewals, fields a trio of runners, headed by Champagne Fever PDF Form Guide - Free from attheraces.com with who has the potential to go right to the top of the tree in this sphere. • Bulletin Book Extracts
Bulletin Book Extracts Continuity with the Dark Horses Annual … In my Dark Horses Guide I made out a case for Nichols Canyon, now the winner of seven of his 10 starts over hurdles. A genuine and classy performer for John Gosden on the Flat, with two Listed victories and a Group 3 placing to his name, he landed four Grade 1 races as a novice last season without getting the credit he deserved. This season he became the first horse to beat Faugheen, where the close proximity of Wicklow Brave in third suggests the favourite underperformed, before winning his sixth Grade 1 race when beating Identity Thief in the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas. Nichols Canyon ran the worst race of his career just under a month later when he trailed home 28 lengths third to Faugheen and Arctic Fire in the Irish Champion Hurdle, possibly feeling the effects of his tussle with Identity Thief in the heavy ground. Nichols Canyon’s greatest asset is his tenacity. He is not the sort of horse ever to win on the bridle, but he handles any ground and has strong winning form over two and a half miles – always an asset in the Champion Hurdle. Willie Mullins says the horse reminds him of Hurricane Fly – a great compliment - and there is a case for saying he has the best overall form in the race, even though the ratings suggest otherwise. Strong Opinions … I have no doubt that My Tent Or Yours is one of the most talented horses Nicky Henderson has ever trained.

  • Welcome to the April 2015 Edition of the Donn Mcclean Racing Newsletter
Welcome to the April 2015 edition of the Donn McClean Racing newsletter. Looking ahead It’s all about the Aintree Grand National now. Final declarations were made this morning, and all 40 runners stood their ground. We're all set. There is usually a story behind every Grand National winner, behind every Grand National contender, but there could be no better story this year than the one that victory for Shutthefrontdoor and AP McCoy would tell. The champ, riding in his last Grand National, in what would be his last race if he happened to win it. That would be the story of stories. Of course, there are other stories lurking. Like the Pineau De Re story, bidding to become the first back-to-back winner since Red Rum. Or the Lord Windermere or Spring Heeled story, both trying to win for Jim Culloty the trainer, 13 years after Bindaree won for Jim Culloty the rider. Or the First Lieutenant story, Mouse Morris' horse set to be ridden by Nina Carberry. Never before has a female rider won the Grand National. Well, Katie Walsh won the Irish National on Monday, so why not? Here are five things that you might keep in mind as you are searching for the Grand National winner: No seven-year-old has won the National since Bogskar in 1940, and none has finished placed in the race since 1971. That makes it difficult for Cause Of Causes and Unioniste. Bindaree in 2002 is the last eight-year-old to win it, and he was only the third eight-year-old since Red Rum won his first in 1973.

Metier was a decent performer on the flat in Ireland and has progressed from race to race over hurdles since moving to Harry Fry. He is a strong stayer who performs well on soft ground. It is taken as fact that the course will be prepared to ride no firmer than Good to Soft on the opening day. Soaring Glory showed marked improvement when impressively winning the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury. He appears to be less dependent on ground conditions than Metier and looks sure to figure. On soft ground Grumpy Charlie could run better than his odds suggest if allowed to take his chance. Despite not being totally straightforward, he is improving with racing experience. DMC: At the start of the season, it looked like Appreciate It was going to be Willie Mullins’ Ballymore Hurdle horse, and that Ferny Hollow was going to be his Supreme Novices’ Hurdle horse.

THURSDAY, 18 FEBRUARY 2016 DWCC CONTINUES AT MEYDAN FAUGHEEN INJURED, The Dubai World Cup Carnival continues to crescendo with a MISSES CHELTENHAM little more than six weeks to racing’s richest day, and Thursday’s program is highlighted by the G3 Dubai Millennium S. for middle-distance turfers. The chestnut, who will be ridden by Freddy Tylicki was a two-time winner at the Carnival in 2015, including a 3/4-length success over the distance last February before going missing. “We were very pleased with his winning return,” said trainer Saeed bin Suroor. “He is a horse who always tries his best and we thought he merited a step up in grade, so this looked a good opportunity. Obviously he will be facing stronger opposition, but he really likes Meydan and we are hoping for a good run.” Cont. p4 Faugheen in action at Kempton over Christmas | Racing Post Faugheen (Ire), (Germany) the reigning champion hurdler and previously a long odds-on favourite to defend his crown at Cheltenham in four weeks’ time, has picked up a suspensory ligament injury and has been ruled out of action for the rest of KY DERBY TOP 12, SPONSORED BY WINSTAR the season.
