YSYW PB SOUTH UPDATE Following a successful year of projects in South Luton that were supported through participatory budgeting we are pleased to announce that the opportunity to apply for funding will be coming your way again when the doorway for applications opens in May. Stronger and Safer Communities

South ward A lantern making work shop was held at the Parktown Community and Children’s Centre on Friday 4th November which then linked with the Lantern Parade and Luton Christmas Light switch on Saturday 28th November. The day was very successful with over a hundred children taking part in the workshop making lanterns with local schools and paraded on the following day from Park Town to the Town Hall for the ‘Big Light Switch On’ event. The highlight of this year’s event was the return to Luton of Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, who was joined by the Mayor to switch on the lights at the Town Hall balcony from 5pm. The children and families from Park Town were delighted meet the ex Girls pupil back to her home town to celebrate the event together.

Park Town Tenants & Residents Association A pensioners Christmas lunch was held at The Salvation Army building on Saturday 19th December 2015 from 12pm - 3pm , the event was attended by 42 elderly local residents, who enjoyed traditional Christmas fair followed by music and dancing and was attended by the Mayor of Luton Cllr Dave Taylor.

Park Town Playschemes Park Town have held playschemes throughout school holidays offering a variety of activities ranging from work shops, crafts, cooking, fun and games sessions and day trips. The average age of the children that attend the sessions is between 5-9 years old. These sessions gave the children a chance to have fun within a safe and nurturing environment and give respite to their parents.
