Zero customer fatalities at stations or on board trains due to the earthquake. August 28, 2018 East Japan Railway Company Expanding the scope of online train seating reservation services for travelers visiting from abroad - Adding more services to the Joyful Trains lineup, very popular overseas! - East Japan Railway Company (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yuji Fukasawa; below, "JR East") is working to make it easier for passengers from overseas to enjoy rail travel. We plan to add 13 new “Joyful Train” services to the JR-EAST Train Reservation online designated seat reservations service for foreign travelers visiting Japan. We will keep striving to expand our services and improve the convenience of our products to ensure that passengers from overseas are able to enjoy pleasant and convenient rail travel. 1. Newly added “Joyful Trains” services In addition to its existing five train services, which include the much-loved Resort Shirakami, the JR-EAST Train Reservation online seating reservation service for overseas travelers visiting Japan is planning to add 13 appealing new train services to its lineup. These will include SL steam locomotives, which are very popular with foreign travelers visiting Japan, as well as the Koshino Shu*Kura train and other rail services for travelers to enjoy. This service allows travelers to reserve designated seating in advance of their visit to Japan, making it extremely convenient and easy to plan a trip.
