They are true recreations of the originals, using the same hand assembly methods used in the Moog Music factory in Trumansburg, NY in 1969. Many of the parts are new old stock. Moog modular guru Gene Stopp analyzed the original Emerson modular, reverse-engineered it and searched parts suppliers to find vintage components to match the original. The modules in the new Emerson Moog Modular System are built by hand-stuffing and hand soldering components to circuit boards, using traditional wiring methods. Even the front panels are photo-etched aluminum (a rare process now). which is the classic and durable look of vintage Moog modules. The Emerson Moog Modular System is effectively a 'new old stock' modular monster synth. We were lucky to get a demo of the synth at the Moog factory, and it duplicates Keith Emerson's modular down to the smallest detail - retaining the 'quirkiness' of old-school pots and components. As a point of reference, here's Keith Emerson explaining his original system: http://www.synthtopia.com/contenV2014/04/25/moog-music-intros-new-emerson-modular-system/ 2/20 6/27/2017 Moog Music Intros New Emerson ModularSystem -Synthtopia Emerson Modular System Photos: http://www.synthtopia.com/contenV2014/04/25/moog-music-intros-new-emerson-modular-system/ 3/20 6/27/2017 Moog Music Intros New Emerson ModularSystem -Synthtopia http://www.synthtopia.com/contenV2014/04/25/moog-music-intros-new-emerson-modular-system/ 4/20 6/27/2017 Moog Music Intros New Emerson ModularSystem -Synthtopia http://www.synthtopia.com/contenV2014/04/25/moog-music-intros-new-emerson-modular-system/ 5/20 6/27/2017 Moog Music Intros New Emerson ModularSystem -Synthtopia http://www.synthtopia.com/contenV2014/04/25/moog-music-intros-new-emerson-modular-system/ 6/20 6/27/2017 Moog Music Intros New Emerson ModularSystem -Synthtopia http://www.synthtopia.com/contenV2014/04/25/moog-music-intros-new-emerson-modular-system/ 7120 6/27/2017 Moog Music Intros New Emerson Modular System -Synthtopia Moog Music, partnering with Emerson, plans to build a handful of the Emerson Moog Modular Systems. Emerson and Lake, who were looking for projects outside their current bands, worked together and found their styles were “compatible and complementary.” Music impresario Robert Stigwood suggested that they add Carl Palmer as their drummer.

The initiative's first installment, which arrived in late July, includes two-CD editions of the group's first three albums -- its 1970 self-titled debut and 1971's Tarkus and Pictures at an Exhibition -- as well as a career-spanning, three-disc compilation titled BMG Emerson, Lake & Palmer: The Anthology. ELP frontman Greg Lake tells ABC Radio that he's very pleased with the reissues. "They've remixed them. They've used the finest quality processing. They've gone into the vaults [and] dug up things that haven't been released before," he notes. "You know, just a general effort to represent the band's history in the best possible way." The Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Tarkus reissues include alternate mixes of the albums by award-winning prog-rock producer Steven Wilson, plus several previously unreleased bonus tracks. Pictures at an Exhibition, features ELP's original March 1971 concert performance of Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky's famous classical piece, along with an unreleased bonus performance of the piece recorded in December 1970.

  • Forms of Intertextuality: Keith Emerson’S Development As a “Crossover” Musician
FORMS OF INTERTEXTUALITY: KEITH EMERSON’S DEVELOPMENT AS A “CROSSOVER” MUSICIAN Akitsugu Kawamoto A dissertation submitted to the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology in the Department of Music. Chapel Hill 2006 Approved by Advisor: John Covach Reader: John Nádas Reader: Severine Neff Reader: Allen Anderson Reader: David Garcia © 2006 Akitsugu Kawamoto ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT AKITSUGU KAWAMOTO: Forms of Intertextuality: Keith Emerson’s Development as a “Crossover” Musician (Under the direction of John Covach) Despite the broad range of attempts to mix “rock” and “classical” music by “progressive (“prog”) rock” musicians from the late 1960s, many writers on prog rock have interpreted the music in a relatively monolithic manner; they often have interpreted the resulting intertextuality simplistically as an elitist experiment that opposes rock’s populist origin. This could certainly be one interpretation of prog, but it is only one of many; there are additional kinds of possible narratives, according to the specific ways in which the materials are combined and fused. Yet the variety of intertextual approaches has rarely been recognized explicitly, and little analytical or musicological attention has been paid to the distinctly different intertextual styles. Generalized approaches to intertextuality have been common not only within popular music studies, however, but also within many humanistic fields. Since Julia Kristeva’s coinage of the term intertextuality in the late 1960s, theorists of the arts (literature, music, painting, architecture, etc.), sociology, politics, economics, and many other fields, have almost always treated intertextuality in a singular manner, presuming that all intertextual practices are more or less of the same kind.

EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER: A TREASURE CHEST OF CLASSIC ALBUMS EXTENSIVE VINYL, CD & DIGITAL REISSUE PROGRAMME THROUGH BMG COMMENCES ON 29 TH JULY 2016 WITH THE RELEASE OF THE FIRST 3 ALBUMS AND A NEW ANTHOLOGY Emerson, Lake & Palmer were one of the most successful, innovative and ground breaking British groups of the golden age of Progressive Rock. As well as creating spectacular ‘live’ shows that incorporated advanced technology and showmanship, they also recorded a cascade of powerful albums that sold in millions around the world. During 2016 and 2017 the band’s musical legacy will be celebrated by BMG with an important and comprehensive re-issue programme that will put the spotlight on ELP’s nine studio albums as well as their ‘live’ recordings and compilations. The trio’s remarkable style, combining original compositions with rock, jazz, folk and classical influences, was performed with passion and integrity by the founder members: Keyboard maestro - the late, great Keith Emerson Singer, guitarist, bass player and producer - Greg Lake Drummer and percussionist - Carl Palmer Their phenomenal mix of melodic songs, dynamic arrangements, brilliant musicianship and electrifying sound broadened the audience for progressive rock and guaranteed ELP massive international appeal, as they headlined stadium tours throughout the 1970s and 1990s and achieved sales of over 40 million albums.
